What a bum. Shanny was my #2 fav after SteveY.
I wonder why he left when the Wings offered him a similar deal? He must know that they aren't going anywhere I guess.

I think it might be for the best. He's getting old and I think the Wings need to give some younger guys a chance.

agreed, I think that a lot of people are overreacting at this point. I trust Babcock, Holland and Stevie to do what's right for the team.

I also agree that it might be for the best... He was old, lost a step, and last year he refused to be as physical as he has been in years past... IMO without his physicality he is a liability rather than an asset... Sure he scores goals, but IMO his toughness was much more important to the team than was his ability to put the puck in the net... I would rather spend some $$$ on a goalie, and some younger legs than keep dumping loads of cash on these ageing vets...
Although I understand why he was able to get such a big contract, I wish Lindstrom wouldn't have gotten as much as he did as well... 7 mill is just too much for one player... esp. a non-physical defensemen... I was hoping we could deal Lindstrom for Pronger, but I do think it is important to keep together a solid nucleaus....
