AFAIK there is no loser's bracket in the BCS...but perhaps I missed something... My question still remains, if it is acceptable for all other NCAA football divisions to have a playoff system to determine their respective championship, why can't the FBS/BCS/Div 1 do the same? Seems to me, in this day and age of equality and fairness that ALL NCAA sponsored divisions should be treated the same. Oh, I get it, the BCS/FBS/Div 1 crowd thinks they're "special" IF NFL football players came out of only BCS/FBS/Div 1 then I might be able to agree (at least a little) however they come from ALL the NCAA divisions.

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
Ah, so your point wasn't why aren't the same but why if the lower ones can do it why can't the bigger one. You didn't state it like that, I answered the question you asked, not what you were implying.
NCAA FB has a bowl subdivision for those not good enough to contend with the BCS teams.

You're right, they are not the same. What does that mean though? The big football setup is much different than the little ones. Not the same situation, not the same needs.

So that's your answer? Um...ok weak, very very weak They are all the same situation, deciding the annual champion of their respective division. How are they different situations? What "needs" are you referring to?

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
I don't need to defend why we shouldn't switch, don't put that on me. We are in a BCS era, if we need to change, telling me "everyone else does it" isn't a good reason either. I have post of info pages back, check them out. Lots of reasons... you have to decide if they are important enough to not do a playoff. I have list of different situations.
You tell me WHY you HAVE to have a playoff to crown a champion and we'll be getting somewhere. FYI, it is going to be SUBJECTIVE.

Exactly, because someone said or thinks that is the only way to determine a champion... silly...

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
How many other sports groups determine their champion by computer rankings and human opinion? I would guess a small percentage.
Let's see: NCAA FBS - Yes NCAA FCS, D2 & D3 - Nope, tournament FIFA World Cup - Nope, tournament MLB - Nope, tournament NBA - Nope, tournament Tennis - Nope, tournament NFL - Nope, tournament NHL - Nope, tournament Olympics - Nope, tournament CFL - Nope, tournament UFL - Nope, tournament Cricket - Nope, tournament Darts - Nope, tournament Golf - Nope, tournament NASCAR - Nope, tournament
Can/Have you provide(d) any examples of the BCS system anywhere?
outside of the NCAA FBS, of course....

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
The human opinion only pits the two top teams together just like in the tourneys. They still have to win to be number one.

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
Not that it makes much of a difference, but Forcier is out for UM's bowl game. Hopefully Denard doesn't get hurt.

 Re: 2010-11 bowl schedule
I take back what I said about TCU, but not Boise. TCU should kill it in the Big East and show they earned the big limelight.
