Maybe, was certainly a defensive battle! Heck of a game to watch though. (Note, you can change the bowl schedule so there isn't a month off, I don't think the bowl system is set up perfect, things can be fixed and still be the BCS system.)
AI think you can do both.
1) Keep the Main Bowl System in place (for all the non playoff teams)
2) Seed the 8 team playoff using the BCS Formula
3) You now have Round of 8 (4 games), round opf 4 (2 games) and National Title Game.. making 7 "BCS Bowls" with the same system/payout etc that the current 5 BCS Bowls do now.
All the "little teams" get to keep their end of season bowl thing going, and there is only 2 more bowl games total than currently. They could be hosted at the current BCS bowl sites since they are ons taggered weeks.
8 Game playoff starts ~ Dec 23/24, then rd 2 Jan 1st, Championship game 1 week later.
No "Cold Teams" would be in the title... the BCS implements it so it isnt a total change in system, and the only teams whining wo uld be 9/10/etc who certainluy cant say they deserve a title shot since they likely have 1-2 if not 3 losses to be rated at 9/10+.
