2005 MOCK DRAFT
VERSION 3.0

Here's a no-frills, no-B.S. version of our mock, based directly on input from a high-level scout, who unlike most mocksters actually gets a paycheck from an NFL team.

Round 2 is coming on Wednesday.

1. 49ers: Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan.

2. Dolphins: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Cal.

3. Browns: Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn.

4. Bears: Mike Williams, WR, USC.

5. Bucs: Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn.

6. Titans: Alex Smith, QB, Utah.

7. Vikings : Cedric Benson, RB, Texas.

8. Cardinals: Pac-Man Jones, CB, West Virginia.

11. Cowboys: Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas.

12. Chargers: Shawne Merriman, DE, Maryland.

13. Texans: Marcus Spears, DE, LSU.

14. Panthers: James Brown, OT, Oklahoma.

17. Bengals: Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami.

18. Vikings: Odell Thurman, LB, Georgia.

19. Rams: Shaun Cody, DT/DE, USC.

20. Cowboys: Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn.

21. Jaguars: Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma.

22. Ravens: Dan Cody, DE/LB, Oklahoma.

24. Packers: David Pollack, LB, Georgia.

25. Broncos: Heath Miller, TE, Virginia.

26. Jets: Justin Miller, CB, Clemson.

27. Falcons: Brodney Pool, S, Oklahoma.

28. Chargers: Kaleef Barnes, OT, Washington.

29. Colts: Kevin Burnett, LB, Tennessee.

As well as the Titans taking a QB. Volek is a more than adequate backup, especially if they start McNair. Granted, they don't have a 3rd stringer. With McNair and Volek, I'd sign a vet who'll never play at the min.

 How is anybody supposed to take this mock seriously with two players with the wrong names on here, James "Don't Call Me Jammal" Brown and Kaleef "Spell It Like It Sounds" Barnes...Oh and BTW, there is no way Thurman and Webster will be first rounders...

I've seen a couple mocks with Webster going in the first since Browner has fallen into the 2nd. Webster's got loads of potential but had a bad season last year due partly to injury. Could essentially be a first round reach. I would say early 2nd at best.

Thurman...eh, possible, but very slightly. Crowder and Ruud are better MLBs than Thurman.

I can't say I agree that Ruud is a better MLB than Thurman. Better run stopper, yes. But Odell is better all around. He has more speed and better coverage skills. Crowder has off-field issues and an injury history. I feel Crowder will be the first MLB off the board. Certainly the Vikings have no reason to take Thurman with them having EJ Henderson to play there. Plus, Thurman is an incredible reach that early in round one. Look for the Patriots to consider taking Odell in round one, or the Saints in round two, one pick ahead of the Lions. The Lions re-signed Wali Rainer, so I doubt that they will make a pick at MLB this year.

The Lions are talking to Matt Sinclair from Illinois. He'd be a good pick up in the 7th. Not that we need 8 LBs though.

I say the Lions pick one position and just exhaust all their picks on it. Like all OTs  That way after a few years you would have to have a solid oline, year 2: dbs, and year 3: LBs or whatever you choose :retard:

I seriously doubt the 49ers take Edwards.
I don't see the 'phins taking a quarterback in round one.
Why would the Browns take a running back? :?
The Titans have other more pressing needs than a third string QB.
The Vikes take Benson?!
The Cards won't pass on Rolle to take Jones.
Barron is a reach at number ten and Millen knows it.
Jamaal 'James' Brown is a reach at fourteen for the Panthers.
When did David Pollack become a linebacker?
The Broncos have a TON of TEs on their roster, they won't take Miller.
Miller and Webster won't be taken ahead of Fabian Washington.
The Chargers will take Roddy White at the 28th pick if he is there.

This is a perfect example of what happens when people drink and mock draft at the same time. :wasted:

Must have been the Vikes FO that created that mock. You know how bad rectum they are when it comes to drafting.

"Kaleef" Barnes is better than "James" Brown IMO.

Has Burnett come back from that knee injury yet? #29 is not likely, the Colts would go with a safer pick IMO.

I'm gonna disagree with the MLB rankings.

I spoke to my "source" about Channing Crowder for about 5 minutes. We exchanged information. Neither of us are high on him, and have him in the late 2nd round. He is way too raw, hasn't had a "superstar" college career, and has so much baggage that he carries with him.

I like Barrett Ruud. I think him and Thurman will battle it out for the first MLB off the board, possibly Ruud to the Pats at 32, where I had him in my first Mock. Ruud was good in coverage in the Senior Bowl, and showed that he is a complete player. There aren't many flaws in his game.

Odell seems like a second round possibility. I like his potential much better than Ruud, but his suspensions and terrible wonderlic score hurt his stock. He's also only 6'0".
