Killer's take on QB and FS
The QB thing is a mystery ... two things i'm fairly certain of are this -- the lions would likely take Alex Smith at no. 10 if he's there (he won't be) ... they'll also strongly consider McPherson in the fourth round ... while Lefors is also a candidate, i think the lions would pull the trigger because he has so much more value (upside potential) ... here's the other thing about the qb thing -- this will really be mooch's call (with millen's blessing) because of the nature of the position ... if mooch loves leflors, something might get done ... i wish i could tell you something definitive on that, but i can't ..
The lions are looking for a Free Safety, but they aren't desperate ... if they don't get one, look for holt to push marion for the starting job ... if they draft someone in the second or third round, that player will have a huge advantage in winning the starting job ...

Why does he keep on talking about smith at 10? And he just contradicted himself, in his mock, he has smith being available at 10. Fool.

Plus, how does he think McPherson will last until the 4th? The guy's been skyrocketing up boards left and right, some crazy mocks even have him going in the first! My guess is mid third at the very latest. Too much of an athlete not to gamble on...

If McPherson is there when the Lions pick in the 3rd round I say take him. Well worth the gamble IMO, he has the talent to be the best QB in this draft. Over 70% completion rate and a TD to INT ratio that is out-of-this-world. He played at a big time program in college and lit up the arena league. He is the only QB that excites me this year.[/u]

Amen.
Where do you fellas think he would have gone if he stayed in college? Top three?

I'd also like to add that if the Lions are considering moving up to the top spot to grab a QB, do it in a year in which the player their is worthy. Lets face it, Rogers and Smith are more mid-to-late first round quality QBs.
My take on the Lions situation is that if they can't get McPherson, then don't grab a QB until the 7th round or even pick up undrafted FA QB or grab a cheap vet.
If you are going to move up to the top spot, do it next year after Matt has his 3rd Nat'l Championship, 2 Heismans and is the most accomplished college QB of all time. That is a player I would pay a price for. If Joey doesn't pan out and their is no "successor in waiting", make the move then.

Fans would have Millen's head if Joey got cut and the next QB was a Joey-reincarnation... Another $8M average QB. Fans would go nuts.

Mel Kiper said that the Lions were very interested in drafting McPherson in the 3rd round. Killer has been saying all along he is the mid round QB that they want.
Although, Detroit wasn't one of the teams in attendance for his private workout...
