It's official! The Lions have the 2nd overall selection in the 2010 NFL draft.
I'll have the complete order of the non playoff teams sometime tomorrow.

An interesting footnote--Kowalski had an article today saying that even if the Rams had won, we still would be picking 2nd.

Any word out of the Rams camp as to who they are looking to draft first?

With the story that Bulger might retire, or be cut loose, then you have to imagine the Rams are going to take long looks at Bradford and Clausen during their workouts. They will probably do mock projections to see if they can land their future QB in rounds two or three.
Like many others, I feel that the Rams are likely to take their QB of the future. After Clausen and Bradford (and possibly Mallett) the QB class goes down hill fast in this draft. Tony Pike has shown he's made of glass, despite pretty good talent. Jevan Snead will be a bust, in my opinion. Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy are wild cards. Personally, I believe both were the typical great college player, but not such a good NFL player type.
On top of all that, the Rams have used multiple first round picks the past few drafts on defensive linemen, and none of them have proven to be all that great.
Much like the Lions last year, they have big question marks at the signal caller spot, and need to get a fresh face for the franchise.

I agree with Karateman. They need a QB there BAD. Plus this draft has only 2 top flight signal callers, if that, depending on Bradfords health. They have their LT of the future in place with Smith and have Stephen Jackson. They need help everywhere, but QB should be of the utmost importance to them.
When are Supplemental Picks given out?

Wayne Fontes, the comp picks are awarded in late March/early April, but the Lions won't get any. They signed many more qualifying free agents than they lost. They should, however, get a supplemental pick at the end of the 7th round.

Thanks Sly, I figured they wouldn't get any outside of maybe the 7th. The only reason I ask is because I want to know actual pick numbers in the rounds, but since supplemental picks begin in the 3rd we can't really determine much beyond that

I would love Detroit to trade down with Seattle.
They give us their 2nd round pick, #6 and we get their 1st rounder, # 14.
That would give us, 1st round #14, 2nd round, #2 and #6.
#3rd round, #2. If my brain has not failed me that would give us 4 picks in the first 97.
Take McClain or Thomas at #14, rd2, a DE and OG. Rd #3 DT, RB or WR.
We should be able to find 4 impact players with those picks, or am I dreaming?

Yeah. For Both #1s, it is a Fair Deal. Even for #6 and their 2nd rounder, I would consider it. For #14, not worth it. Sure wed save money on cap space (assuming this wage limit for rookies doesnt make it in this year - it has been rumored it could) - But wed be taking ourselves out of the "Elite Player" options, for only 1 extra pick. Not worth it.
#2 for #6 + #14 - Good Deal for Lions
#2 for #6 + # 38 - Fair Deal for Lions
#2 for #14 + #38 - Bad Deal for Lions
#2 for #14 + #38 + #70& 2nd Next Year (Or a 1st in Next Years) - Fair Deal for Lions.
EDIT: Imagine getting #6 and #14 - Not a Bad Deal for them if they want a specific QB. Now Imagine getting Gerald McCoy (Or Eric Berry or Derrick Morgan) at #6, and Getting Rolando McClain or a top flight CB at #14. Sounds like a fair deal to give up on Suh for.

With Carroll taking over and most likely rebuilding, I doubt they're gonna trade away picks to grab 1 player. Unless they feel their close to competing. They need alot of pieces too.

Or if Carrol covets a QB to replace Hasselback. He's been injured and not reliable at all as of the past 3 years. As with every "rebuild" of some sort a QB could be coveted. It could be that they want to jump ahead of someone to nab a particular QB. I don't really see anyone scaring them into trying to move up though...
