I agree.... he was one of the guys I was hoping was there at three if we didn't take Dline in the 2nd. Having said that I love that we got Cody and Swancutt both guys are good football players and are going to raise the level of an already strong unit.

I agree its a steal as well, he's just a great DE, and I think he can partake Reddings job from day 1, IMHO... Millen made a great trade with New England, BTW as we got Dan Orlovski and that LB, great trade...

I missed most of the draft today. What exactly did Millen do to get the extra picks? Last I knew all we had was 1 6th round pick left.

Swancutt was a very productive player in college. Its amazing he was there in the 6th and that we got him. Corey Redding is a solid defensive lineman though both at DE and DT. He will get every chance to earn his 2nd contract this season while Swancutt learns the rigors of the NFL. Kalimba Edwards and DeVries better be ready when camp rolls around but at this point there is room for all of them considering PUP, IR, and practice squad...

Any of you guys wonder why 32 GMs passed on him at least 5 times? He is a 5.0 40, weak 255 pounder, right?

He's 270, average weight.

He can work on speed and strength. It was a good value pick IMO. He's got the knack for making the big play and for his measurables, he produces. If he can get his 40 down to around a 4.7 (4.91 is what I have seen for him), get stronger, and gain about 10 pounds - he should be a tough DE IMO.

You can't expect to find David Pollack athletes in round 6 at DE who run a 4.7 40, bench 225 25 times, and get 15 sacks a year...

I understand that conversion, but slicing off .2 seconds is a rather herculian task. I was expressing skepticism whether he can play in the NFL. Many professionals questioned that evidently. Maybe he represents a good risk at that point. At that stage, the other philosophy is to draft athleticism rather than production. Here, is hoping for the next Charles Haley.

The man can play, people get sooo tied up in the combine, watch the guy on tape he is a beast. His motor never stops. There are plenty of great NFL players who didnt have the ideal size, ideal 40's, but who had heart, tenacity, things you dont see at the combine. Chris Spielman anyone????




Then there are those that come to the combine and wowem. Hey this guys runs the 40 in xx, he benches xx, so WHAT!!!! Mike Mamula anyone? Ill take heart and tenacity over combine numbers anyday and everyday
