We didn't need a RB as bad as a CB. I thought we gave up #34, swapped 4th rounders with Minnesota and gave up our 7th? Is that right?

Yes we switched 4th's we didn't give anything up but a 7th rounder. Though I still don't like the fact we traded up.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
We gave up 34 and 100 plus one of the 7th rounders. We get 30 (Best) and 128.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
On NFL.com lists us as receiving Minnies 4th, 128 overall. That takes a little of the sting out of it, but it still feels like desperation. Not happy.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
Obviously, the Lions were going to take this kid if he was still there in the 2nd. All they did was make sure they got him. Had to go back 28 spots in the 4th, big deal. If these guys think it was the way to go, OK! Imo, Best is the top pure runner in the draft. Just don't know if he can take the pounding.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
Bad move, If you're going to move up it should have been for Kyle WIson. J. Best would have been there at #34 if you really want him. The worst part is that they have given up their opportunity to trade down with a team that really wants Sergio Kindle or Jimmy Clausen at the top of the 2nd. Terrible move.

Great move. Swap 4thsand a 7th for a great RB. Score. We didn't lose much. They didn't think he'd last. Security is worth. That.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
It was a bad move for these reasons:
1. RB is not our most dire need, it is cornerback and New Orleans selection proves Patrick Robinson was worth moving up to get. There was absolutely no threat of Minnesota, Indianapolis, New Orleans or St. Louis taking him. While some other team may have moved up to get Best, so be it. You can't get every player you covet.
2. Best couldn't stand the pounding in college. He was injured just about every year he played. What makes the Lions think he won't get devastated behind basically the same line that got Smith and Stafford killed last season.
3. Moving down in the fourth round 28 spots IS a big deal. The depth of talent in this draft is not infinite. Right around the upper portion of the fourth round there seems to be a pretty decent drop off.
4. They gave more ammunition in this draft to a division rival. That's a no-no.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
Maybe the Lions weren't as high on the CB's that were there. To me that's kind of obvious.

 Re: Draft Day Thread
Last year when chose Levy, I was going WTF. But look how that turned out. Oh, and by the way, we also got the top player in the draft.
