Re: Tracking the Lions' 2011 Draft Order
Mid Sunday Update (Estimations with last weeks SOS #s):
1 Carolina 2-14 .575 2 Denver 4-11 .508 [Playing SD] 3 Cincinnati 4-12 .579 4 Buffalo 4-12 .583 5 Arizona 5-10 .458 [Playing SF - Pick be4 Lions W or L] 6 San Francisco 5-10 .492 [Playing AZ - Pick be4 Lions W or L] 7 Dallas 5-10 .521 [Playing Phi - Should Pick Be4 Lions W or L] 8 Houston 5-10 .525 [Beating Jags 10-0 1st qtr - Pick be4 Lions W or L] 9 Cleveland 5-11 .575 10 Seattle 6-9 .488 [Playing Rams tonight - Pick be4 Lions with Loss, Pick after with W] 11 Washington 6-9 .513 [Playing Giants - Pick be4 Lions with Loss, Pick after with W] 12 Minnesota 6-10 .542 - *** See Below for Crazy Possibility 13 Detroit 6-10 .550 14 Tennessee 7-9 .504
By My Calculations the Lions are picking at #11-13.. (Outside Shot its #10-12, see below).
Possible Shenanigans in Lions Favor: Compare the SOS of the Lions and Vikings. Realise that this was last weeks SOS. Now as the Lions Won , and the Vikings Lost, it is remotely possible that our SOS will actually go down since we beat the vikes, while theirs may go UP, due to losing to us and we could actually move ahead of them in the draft. We will have to see how it plays out as every single game could have a small impact on SOS #s, but hows that for a mind-F*ck.

Quote: If the Rams win
* The Minnesota Vikings will choose No. 13. * The Detroit Lions will choose No. 14
If the Seahawks win
* The Vikings will choose No. 12 * The Lions will choose No. 13
Above is from Kevin Seifert. Early teens is a good spot to be in I think. Trade down possibilities exist and it opens up more possibilities of positions that could be picked.

Re: Tracking the Lions' 2011 Draft Order
I don't mind picking at that point, plus a lot of trades are made in that range too. Maybe the Lions can pick up some additional picks. I want LB help in this draft, and at 13 or 14 a LB can be taken without thinking we reached!

Definitely a nice spot to be if you follow a BPA strategy.

Re: Tracking the Lions' 2011 Draft Order
The Lions will then move to the top of the 6-10 teams in round 2 so they will have the 7th pick in that round or 39th overall which will also be a key pick to add another building block.

How is this? Teams with the same record rotate each round, those with equal 6-10 positions are determined by SOS (strength of schedule) in round one and that order is reversed in round 2 and flips flops back and forth each round.

I never noticed that. Very nice piece of info.

Then they could draft say Mike Pouncey with their 1rst rounder and grab Greg Jones and some corner like Dowling in the second. Mike Pouncey in the first round? He's not likely to go that high, because he's not quite that good. Mid-second round would be better. Plus, he's HORRIBLE at snapping out of the shotgun.

Re: Tracking the Lions' 2011 Draft Order
Unfortunately, Pablo has it backwards. The Lions have the 13th pick in the 1st, the 12th in the 2nd, the 11th in the 3rd, etc.
