 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
I would be upset if we drafted a RB in the first two rounds. Power backs can be found in the mid to later rounds and even UDFA, look at blount(UDFA), peyton hillis(7th), brandon jacobs(4th).
I'm not sure how all the prospects rank, but I believe if we ended up picking between 7-10 than a LB would be the best pick IMO. that is of course if peterson and prince are already taken.
I'm not a draft guru but it seems that LBs have a low bust rate. i can think of quite a few 1st round LBs within the past few years who have been quite successful.
personally I would like to see us grab a LB & CB in the first two rounds and than stock up on sum lineman between 3-5 rounds.

Bilal Powell RB Louisville 6'0 215lbshttp://bleacherreport.com/articles/4926 ... nning-backDude looks legit and he should fall to the 4th round, don't know if anyone watch the Louisville/Southern Mississippi game last night but he did pretty good.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
Don't need an RB, let alone a 215 lb RB. THe opnly RB discussion here is for a bruiser in the 230-250 range.
We have MoMo and KS for the 210-225 range

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
I really am starting to think that KS won't be with the team in 2012. Best is obviously the back of the future, and MoMo has been playing real well. Smith is younger, obviously, but I don't know if he's going to be able to hold up, especially after all the injuries.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
Thats why he will be the 3rd string back.
No need to waste time/moneyd rafting another back, Smith isnt Bad.. hes just average. Spend those pick on shots at more Oline, Extra DBs or LBs.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
kevin smith is not very good and i dont expect him to even make the team next year. morris is getting old, and best hasnt performed up to spec. i could see them drafting a rb at some point in the draft.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on a bigger back 4th round or later. I just hate the idea of not using the first 4 picks on OL, DB, and LBers

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
I know Felton is a FB, but he can carry the ball well when given the opportunity. The lions don't need to waste a pick on a RB. When Best and Smith are both healthy the lions run game is good. They need to draft LB's and CB's more than anything. They even need another WR before they need a RB.

He hasn't??? Hasn't the running game the past 2 seasons picked up when he's been in there? Didn't he just have our 1st 100-yard game by a rusher all year? Seems to me he's doing better than our "star" RBs. And he may be old, but how much has he been used in his career? I think there's still plenty of tread on those tires. He's averaging over 4 YPC and only has rushed for just under 3300 yards in his career; personally I would keep him around and actually use him.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
Agreed. Morris should be getting 10 carries a game next year even if Best and Smith are healthy. Smith should really be the third back. Behind the three of them Felton and Logan can both carry the ball too. Every team could always get better at every position. I just don't think the running game is a pressing need for the Lions and shouldn't waste a draft pick on the position.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
look im not dogging momo, he has done a fine job. as good or better than anybody on the team. but here is the thing, age. you can all say your happy with him and i am at the moment as well.
the thing is when rbs get older they all have it till they dont anymore. they dont last forever even if they do have low mileage.

 Re: 2011 Lion's Super Bowl
And to defend vankman, he said Best isnt playing up to expectations, not that Morris isnt. He just said morris is old. At least thats how I read it. (the 2nd bolded part is in reference to best)
