 What does Carolina do now?
With Andrew Luck going back to school, what does Carolina do? Jimmy Clausen doesn't appear to be "the guy", but they'll certainly have to give him another shot at it with Matt Moore as competition. And remember, the Panthers don't have a second round pick, because they traded it to the Patriots last year to get a third round pick (ironically, they took Appalachian State QB Armanti Edwards). So they traded what ends up as the #33 pick to the Pats for what was the #89 pick at the time. Boy, who got the better of that trade?
Who does Carolina select with the first pick now?
Bowers as a replacement for Peppers? Peterson? Fairley? Mo? Larry? Curly?

The Patriots always seem to get the better end of their trades! As far as what they'll do though is beyond me. They need oline help WR, And just about every spot on the D....

Re: What does Carolina do now?
I was thinkin the same thing.....but is he expected to be #1 quality? is he REALLY that much better than Clausen? personally i dont think CLausen is as bad as he looks this year...there are alot of issues with that offense that if fixed, could mae the QB spot alot easier to play.

Mallett screwed himself at the bowl game. He locked up a lower pick for sure. I don't see Carolina taking a qb. And I don't think Clausen is necessarily a bust. Why not give him one more year?

Honestly...they collectively throw up in their mouths a little bit. Then they realize that without Luck there is no option to trade back and draft....heck I have no idea.

Blaine Gabbert or go with the local college guy Da'Quan Bowers.

AJ Green. He's the BPA, and Steve Smith wants out.

Re: What does Carolina do now?
I wouldn't be surprised to see them select WR A.J. Green. Steve Smith is getting old and has been injury-prone lately. They also have virtually no one else of note at the WR position, so it makes sense. Bowers is another possibility, but I think they'll address their pitiful offense instead.

Re: What does Carolina do now?
i really dont think they would have taken luck anyway even though everybody seems to think they would. they spent a few picks last year on qbs, their not just gonna give up on em just like that. what they need to do is go out there and get claussen some help and draft a real wr and not a mini wr. aj green should be their pick.

Re: What does Carolina do now?
AJ Green should probably be the pick at #1, but if I were in charge I would take Da'Quan Bowers. He's not Julius Peppers or Mario Williams, but he's damn close. The only issue is going to be if the Panthers want to take a shot at a kid who underachieved this year. His pops died and he sort of "recommitted" himself to playing football. Hopefully if they take him #1 the money and fame won't go to his head and get fat and lazy like he did during his sophomore year.
As for Green, another guy who has questionable character. Granted, I think he got a raw deal by the NCAA, but you do have to question whether or not the guy knows how to keep his nose clean, or if he's just going to be another diva receiver.
Carolina's gotta be pissed Luck isn't coming out.
Vank,
I think Clausen and Pike deserve shots, but if you have a chance at a legitimate franchise QB, you take it. All the signs point to Luck being exactly that, whereas 47 other guys were viewed as being better than Clausen, including 2 other QB's.

Richardson, their owner stated that if Luck declared for the draft, the Carolina Panthers would draft him. Ironically, the very next day, Luck declared that he was staying in school.

Word has it that Carolina contacted Andrew Luck and told him if he declared they intended to select him barring any medical issues. True? I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt that it could have happened. Clausen was not effective, at all. And Matt Moore regressed. I know Carolina as a whole took a big step backwards, but the QBs were not very good at all. Personally, I think they would go with Bowers. Carolina is very short on pass rushers, and pass catchers can be had in later rounds. I have to imagine that Carolina is already shopping that pick, but with no CBA and no rookie wage scale, I don't think there's going to be any takers.
