What team is going to make the shocker pick this year?
Every year in the draft,at least 1 team, usually 2 teams, will make a pick that just leaves everyone either scratching or shaking their heads. Who will it be this year. I only see one this year. The usual suspect, Al Davis. He has already started down his road of confusion by firing Tom Cable after a year in which he deserved a raise. My only question is who will be the workout warrior that he falls in love with? Here is round 1 order: Quote: Pick: 1 Carolina Panthers .125 .574 Pick: 2 Denver Broncos .250 .516 Pick: 3 Buffalo Bills .250 .578 Pick: 4 Cincinnati Bengals .250 .582 Pick: 5 Arizona Cardinals .313 .465 Pick: 6 Cleveland Browns .313 .570 Pick: 7 San Francisco 49ers .375 .488 Pick: 8 Tennessee Titans .375 .508 Pick: 9 Dallas Cowboys .375 .512 Pick: 10 Washington Redskins .375 .516 Pick: 11 Houston Texans .375 .523 Pick: 12 Minnesota Vikings .375 .539 Pick: 13 Detroit Lions .375 .543 Pick: 14 St. Louis Rams .438 .449 Pick: 15 Miami Dolphins .438 .539 Pick: 16 Jacksonville Jaguars .500 .453 Pick: 17 Oakland Raiders .500 .469 [Traded to New England] Pick: 18 San Diego Chargers .563 .457 Pick: 19 New York Giants .625 .453 Pick: 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers .625 .479 Pick: 21 Kansas City Chiefs .625 .414 Pick: 22 Indianapolis Colts .625 .473 Pick: 23 Philadelphia Eagles .625 .492 Pick: 24 New Orleans Saints .688 .469 Pick: 25 Seattle Seahawks* .438 .484 Pick: 26 Green Bay Packers* .625 .520 Pick: 27 Chicago Bears* .688 .473 Pick: 28 New York Jets* .688 .496 Pick: 29 Baltimore Ravens* .750 .484 Pick: 30 Pittsburgh Steelers* .750 .500 Pick: 31 Atlanta Falcons* .813 .484 Pick: 32 New England Patriots* .875 .504

Since Oakland traded their 1st round pick to NE, Al Davis will have to wait until the 2nd round before drafting someone who runs a 4.3 that nobody has ever heard of. But as for the 1st round, Buffalo is usually a decent choice to select someone much earlier than anybody thinks they will be.

Buffalo is a safe bet to make that crazy pick. I could see them falling in love with Cam Newton and drafting him at 3.

Well if Buffalo doesn't take Newton, it certainly would not surprise me to see Cincinnati take him at #4 and then they would probably think they would be in a much better position to trade Palmer.

I Could also see em trading Palmer to move up a couple a spots if another QB catches their eye. I can see Carolina thinkin thats a pretty good trade.

Would Detroit taking Mark Ingram constitute a shocker? Cause if so, thats who I'm going with...

I think a "shocker" pick is someone who is taken well before they are expected to go in the draft. Ingram is a mid-first rounder so it is not that much of a shock. So for 2010, there were some surprise picks but the first shocker for me was the Jags taken Tyson Alualu at 10 when I saw him as a late first round or second round pick. In 2009 it would have been the Raiders taking Darius Heyward-Bey at 7 and before Crabtree. Well, maybe not shocking since it was Al Davis doing the picking but you get the idea.

The thing is, the shocker pick doesn't always have to be a bad pick.
Like in 2007, everyone thought the Browns would take Quinn at #3. They took Joe Thomas and it was a huge shock, but ultimately a smart move.

Re: What team is going to make the shocker pick this year?
In 2006 Buffalo made a shocker pick when they took Donte Whitener 8th overall, and most saw him as a late first-early second round pick.
As for me, I could see the shocker pick coming out of Cleveland. With them moving to a 43 defense, in all likelihood, they might make something of a reach for a 43 DE like Ryan Kerrigan, choosing to pass over on Robert Quinn because of his year off.

That surprised me as well but it seemed to have worked out for them.

I would say Denver may since they now have John Elway helping to run things with no experience alot like Millen when he was screwing up drafts while he was here.
