Your Lions Big Board at 13
OK, the draft is fast approaching, lets see how everyone's big board is shaping up. First, lets assume the following players are off the board...
QB - Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert WR - AJ Green DT - Nick Fairley, Marcell Dareus DE - Robert Quinn LB - Von Miller CB - Patrick Peterson
That is 8 off the board, so you need to rank your top 5 cause one will have to be there. Obvious choices are:
RB - Mark Ingram WR - Julio Jones OT - Tyron Smith, Anthony Castano, Nate Solder DE - Da'Quan Bowers, Cameron Jordan, JJ Watt, Ryan Kerrigan LB - Akeem Ayers CB - Prince Amukamara, Jimmy Smith, Brandon Harris
Feel free to add others to your top 5 list. Mine as of this point is:
1) CB Prince Amukamara - need and value propel him to the top 2) WR Julio Jones - top ten value from talent standpoint 3) OT Tyron Smith - gotta put one of the OTs on the board 4) DE Da'Quan Bowers - big upside, hardest one to peg on my board 5) DE Cameron Jordan - like his versitility and althleticism

Re: Your Lions Big Board at 13
OK I'll bite. Assuming the following players are off the board...
QB - Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert WR - AJ Green DT - Nick Fairley, Marcell Dareus DE - Robert Quinn LB - Von Miller CB - Patrick Peterson
It's a fair assumption that I feel most would agree on.
My top 5 would be...
CB - Prince Amukamara WR - Julio Jones DE - Aldon Smith, JJ Watt, Cameron Jordan

Re: Your Lions Big Board at 13
As the entire free world has to know by now, I do not like a single 1 of the OT's this year. So Pablo, No you DO NOT have to have at least 1 on your list. LOL. I would just as soon redraft Joey Harrington ( UGGGGGHHH ) than to take an OT this year. Also, #13 overall is far too big of a risk to take on Bowers. Let someone else draft a knee that is already 80 years old. 1. Prince Amukamara ----- Darell Revis Comparison has me drooling. 2. Cameron Jordan ------- I rank him lower than Prince only because of degree of need. 3. Mark Ingram ----------- Add him to Calvin and Best and he would put the Boom in Click, Click, BOOM 4. Julio Jones ------------ Add him to Calvin and Best and he would stretch the defense to the breaking point. 5. Ryan Kerrigan --------- He has been compared to Jared Allen. I could handle that.

He's played OLB, he's played DE and he's been proficient at getting to the QB at either spot. I would lay off any OT but Tyron Smith. He may be raw, but he has great athletic talent and could become a great NFL tackle, either on the left or right side. I wouldn't touch Da'Quan Bowers. His knee concerns me, and his one year wonder factor is a big cause for concern. I leave Mark Ingram off this list because I truly don't think he's going to be a bigtime NFL back. I could be wrong, Lord knows I've been before, but it's just how I feel about him.

Re: Your Lions Big Board at 13
ok...
1. Prince Amukamara 2. Da'Quan Bowers 3. Aldon smith 4. Camerson Jordan 5. Mike Pouncy
and really id hate to say it but i almost like Pouncy 2nd on my list. Raiola and Peterman stink, would be nice to have a pro bowler at one of those positions!!

i throw pouncey in there because i just really want to be rid of either peterman or raiola so it wouldnt hurt my feelings if they reached.

1. prince amukamara 2. akeem ayers 3. julio jones 4. da'quan bowers 5. mike pouncey
I'd like to see the Lions trade back a few spots and get Mike Pouncey especially if Amukamara or Ayers is gone.

Re: Your Lions Big Board at 13
I could definitely agree with the Mike Pouncey pick if it were to come to that. I wouldn't want to pick him at 13, but you'd have to be careful not to drop too far because I could see him going anywhere from 16-23. I'm not saying that the teams that currently inhabit those picks would take him, but a team could jump up/drop down to try to get him. I think he'd be just as valuable a selection as a D-Lineman would.
