Im liking it. Prime spot for a top guard or center.

I've even seen an article considering him a Top 10 pick. But like you said, Konz could play either, and the great part is we need both positions.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
i would not be surprised to see a trade up for riley reiff or someone like that who may be a top 20 pick. if mayhew thinks that fox and culbreath dont project as a possible replacement for backus in the next year or so there is a huge need for a LT and no better place to find one than the draft.

I wouldnt be opposed to drafting Reiff. If for some reason he doesnt end up at LT, id bet he'd be an upgrade over Goz at RT.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
Yea, DeCastro will be long gone by the time the Lions select, so I'm leaning toward Peter Konz now, if he declares. Another one I was considering was OT Barrett Jones, but he's returning to Alabama. If they don't draft an OL in the first round, I'm hoping for a CB, but who knows what Mayhew will do?

In the bottom of the 1st round we should be able to nab a dominating Linebacker also. Levy stinks at SAM because of his inability to take away opposing TE's. And I have been less than impressed with both Durrant and Tulloch as far as stopping the RB's is concerned. That said, I am not lobbying for any 1 position/player this year. Every time I set my mind on 1 particular player/position, other than Stafford and Suh, I end up Ticked off with the actual selection. And I end up being proven wrong, since Mayhew has been in charge.

The more and more I think about it, and considering what Mayhew has done in the past, I wouldnt be surprised to see a trade up in the first round.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
After today's game, our secondary and lb deficiencies were glaring. Here's a vote to draft heavily on that side.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
I agree with Liontrax and BillySims. I've been preaching for us to take a guard or center, hoping we'd get lucky and get DeCastro or Konz, but like you guys said todays game completely made it obvious what the Lions most glaring need is, and that is the defensive backs and linebackers, with defensive backs getting the nod above the LBs IMO. I dont want a decent #2 guy to have to cover elite WRs anymore. I want the Lions to get a stud at that position.
We have to face Jennings (and now Nelson!) twice a year, Percy Harvin twice a year, and next year having to face Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Roddy White..etc. They will all torch us if we continue to play with the DBs we have.
I hope Schwartz and Mayhew realize this and make a huge effort to address this.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
nelson torched anybody that they put on him - houston wright mcdonald and especially a smith. i wouldnt mind another corner but look around league, all secondaries everywhere are getting torched. if u just end up with the 4th or 5th best corner in the draft, there is no guarantee that they are an upgrade over what you already had. cunningham got burned with some of his blitz calls the worst being on the screen pass. still this game was easily winnable despite the secondary - the officiating calls were terrible and affected scores and possessions all in favor of green bay not to mention multiple missed facemasks and out in the open holding calls.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
FYI - Cortland Finnegan is a free agent this year. I fully expect Schwartz to be on his doorstep on Free agent eve
