Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
Of the corners on your list - Mathis would have been a usefull addition but he tore his ACL and will be 32 next season. It might be worth bringing him in as he might be cheap but if he had addl damage besides just the ACL then his effectiveness may be compromised. Regardless, he wouldnt be considered a long term solution. Thomas also missed the season with an ACL injury and Finnegan Im not sure is still playing at a level that would be an upgrade over our first 3 corners.
Leonard, Griffin and Landry would all be upgrades at safety. Branch would be good competition for Spievey but might not be significantly better. Landry however will not be a free agent and just signed a big contract and Leonard's season ended because of a bad knee injury

Griffin and Landry are both barely acceptable in coverage and always look for that knockout blow, like delmas. Neither fits what we need in a more of a FS

Didn't want to start a new thread for this. But, I figured I would just remind everyone that our penalty for Tampering is now a 6th round pick. I hope Scott Pioli dies chocking on it

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
True, but they won't look to a guy like griffin or Landry (who I thought was already extended) to replace amari. I can't see them giving up on him yet, which they would be doing by signing such a high priced safety. Get better man cover corners and the safeties will look 10x better.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
With today's loss and Houstons win we moved up. I'll be pulling for Atlanta to improve our spot tomorrow.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
Seems odd that Atlanta picks ahead of us - they had the playoff tiebreaker over us, so got the 5th seed, but also have the draft tiebreaker over us and get a better pick? Seems like an odd system to me.

Re: Tracking the Lions' Draft Order
It's dependent on strength of schedule for draft, which Atlanta played an easier schedule, and in the playoffs it was the head-to-head tiebreak that determined Atlanta as the 5 seed. It does seem a little backward in this case, but that's just how it is.
