can someone please xplain the logic here?
Ok Cleveland is sitting on pick # 4. The only team in front of em is Minny at #3. Why in gods name do they give minny their 4th round pick just to move up the one spot to pick up a RB. Did they forget that Minny has AP? I do not get the thinking here at all. There was no way Minny would have taken that RB...why make the move?

So another team couldn't trade with Minny and grab Richardson...

The same way we got them to trade up one spot a few years ago to take Winslow.

They knew they couldn't pass up on TRich and Tampa wanted a RB. They ended up getting Doug Martin at the end of the 1st, so that wasn't a smoke screen. Minnesota obviously convinced Holmgren/Heckert that Tampa was calling and wanting to move up for that pick to get Richardson. Cleveland has a bunch of picks so they could use them to ensure they would get their guy. No real beef with it.

Cleveland gave up fourth, fifth and seventh rounders to ensure they would get the player they coveted. That's peanuts to land a player being compared to Adrian Peterson. If that's all the Lions would have had to have given up to move up one spot and get a player like that, we'd all be voting for Mayhew as governor.

The comparison that I've heard is Emmitt Smith.

The comparison that I've heard is Emmitt Smith. Depends on who you listen to. His size and speed are comparable to Smith moreso than Peterson. But his vision, ability to pass block, receiving skills, etc. are all being looked at as another AP. Emmitt wasn't much of a receiver (though he didn't have to be), and wasn't known for being a great pass blocker. Richardson does it all, and does a pretty good job of it.
