 1st Round Fears?
There's already a thread about who you want the Lions to draft in round 1. On the other hand, who you are afraid they might draft? We have a pretty good sense of which players might be there. Who do you want the Lions to avoid--and why?
The Lions' recent draft history suggests that their choices will turn out better than mine so even if the draft one of these guys, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and will keep my moaning to a minimum. I'll start with a guy I've seen going to the Lions in a lot of mock drafts:
Jonathan Martin. [/b]From what I've seen, he might not be powerful enough to play RT, not athletic enough to play LT. To me, he is a Backus clone. While it would be good to get a 10-year starter--even if he's only average--I don't think Martin would crack the lineup this year or next. Could probably get a similar player later in the draft, or even next year. If the Lions draft an OT in round 1, I would rather have Bobby Massie, who could play RT this year and possibly play LT in the future; much more upside with Massie.
Who else?

I actually like our options at 23. I think you're going to get a good player--maybe not a Day 1 starter, but someone who will contribute (and maybe start) early.

I feel ya on Martin, and feel similarly about Mike Adams. Adams = Gos 2.0.
And as much as people like the guys, I think Upshaw is a guy without a position in Detroit.

DJ-B, Speaking of Willie Young, Nick Perry seems like a similar player to Young. I'm not opposed to drafting Perry but I'm not sold on him as a first-rounder. Seems like a developmental guy and maybe just a situational pass rusher. If the Lions go DE in round 1, I'd rather have Chandler Jones or Vinny Curry.

 Re: 1st Round Fears?
I'm not sold on any of the OL. Too many are listed as multiple position players which sounds good, but someone that masters one position is a stronger prospect to me than someone that knows multiple and masters none. If we're going after a OG or OC, then draft an OG or OC. Something just doesn't feel right about Konz and Adams, it's just not something I can put into words.
I'd be ok with the Upshaw pick IF they plan to use him as a blitzing LB on obvious passing downs. Hogue is better in coverage, Upshaw would be better on the blitz. For depth I get it, but you don't start drafting situational players when you've got a need in the secondary. I'd say Upshaw was more of a reach at 23 than Jenkins. I'd actually be perfectly ok with Jenkins if Claiborne, Kilpatrick, Gilmore and Barron are off the board, which they probably will be.

I fear Jonathon Martin or Mike Adams...
but other than Cordy Glenn I dont see them taking an O-lineman, so im not too worried.

 Re: 1st Round Fears?
My fear is that they trade up and limit their picks to improve the team. I'd also be really upset if they take Chandler Jones. The rumor here in Syracuse is that he won't get past the Lions at #23.

 Re: 1st Round Fears?
My fear is ending this draft without addressing the secondary AGAIN. I also fear taking Coples in rd 1
