Lions have received a 4th and 7th round compensatory picks in this years draft for the loss of Eric Wright and Drew Stanton in free agency. Almost too good to be true.

Wow that's good news.

If they are good for a 4th and a 7th respectively, then Avril, and Gos should be worth 3rd rounders.

They signed Bush and Quinn who are both starters that should get significant time, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much Billy. They are actually adding guys this year and that could reduce or negate the value of comp picks they may be awarded next year.

We had figured these were coming our way for awhile now but its good to get confirmation.


As far as next year players we've lost so far: Cliff Avril 2 years $15M, Gos 5 years $34.5M, Sammie Lee Hill 3 years $11.4M, Drayton Florence 1 year

players we added: Bush 4 years $16M, Jones 3 years $9.5M, Quinn 5 years $23.5M

Since nobody knows the formula for sure, but its some combination of quality of player/ playing time/ contract we look to be about breaking even right now.

Great news! Had high hopes we'd get an extra mid-round pick. Believe there's some very good players still available at that point. Had felt like there was a big hole in the middle of this years draft for us with Mayhew trading away our 4th last year.
