Post What are you thinking about the draft?
Hello,
I'm new to the boards and just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been a Lion fan for as long as I can remember. I live and die with the happenings of the Lions. I've been looking at mock drafts and a lot of them have us taking Jimmy Williams, CB, VT. He's 6'3" 215lbs. He runs the 40 in 4.5. He played safety and corner in college. I think he'd be a better safety prospect. What do you think?

Welcome to Lionbacker buell17, glad to have you here.

I've tried thinking about the draft but my head is hurting already. I would like us to take the best Defensive player available as I believe we could use help pretty much everywhere on D

I do think that we need to work on our defense. We've gone offense the last 4 years, and look at what that's gotten us. I think this guy would be a good prospect at safety. Put him and KK back there with Dre and RW at the corners. I believe that our D-Line is set, and the linebackers, if healthy are pretty good. Just a thought.

Welcome to LB buell17.

We have a mock drafting page (seeing who other sites are picking for the Lions). You can find it here:

http://www.lionbacker.com/?id=draft&sub=mock-drafts

Just updated this weekend, for those mocks that have been updated this year we have (first number is the # of sites selecting this player):

4 Mathias Kiwanuka (DE) Boston College
3 Chad Greenway (OLB) Iowa
2 Jonathon Scott (OT) Texas
1 Jimmy Williams (DB) Virginia Tech
1 Demarco Ryans (OLB) Alabama
1 D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT) Virginia
1 Winston Justice (OT) USC

It is real early at this piont, if Ferguson fell to the Lions at #9 I would be very pleased.

Yeah, I was looking at Ferguson, too. It would be nice to shore up the O-Line.

Welcome to Lionbacker Buell17~

I have my own Crazy Ideas about who I want at 9, but after last year nothing is really too crazy.

Pablo I did not know we had that page. Very nice! Now I can stop googling 300 times a day :D

 Welcome to Lionbacker Buell17. Hope you enjoy the site as much as I.

I haven't put much thought into the draft yet, but I'd be shocked to see Ferguson fall to 9. I'd rather have Michael Huff from Texas than Williams, but again, I'm not sure of projected draft status or anything else yet.

Until the Lions have selected a HC and staff, I'm going to shy away from the draft.

If you google too much, you'll go blind.

Believe it's to early to say what we should do in the draft personnel wise, other than to say it must be defense. That being said, I to like Huff kid from Texas.

I suggest you order the sites in order of when they were last updated, because some of the mock draft sites are absolutely horrible with the picks. Also he's an awesome link that has loads of mock draft sites which you can add to your list. Almost all of them are updated since the new year and are very reliable sources. Here's the website (disregard the Redskin affiliation because it has no bearing on the picks):
