Post Manny Lawson
I've been following Scott Wrights coverage of Senior bowl week (mainly because it's free) and one of the Names I'm not hearing anyone else talk about is Manny Lawson

Quote:
One of the biggest stories of the week has been the emergence of Manny Lawson and that continued today as he showed freakish ability and even picked off a screen pass from Darrell Hackney. The guy really is a marvel and is making himself a lot of cash in Mobile.

He is projected as a DE or a OLB in a 3-4... Anyone know if he's going to be a first day pick?

He's this year's DeMarcus Ware but has a little more of an upside in my opinion. He's definately a 3-4 OLB in the NFL unless he magically puts on 15-20 lbs before the combine. But I will almost guarantee a team falls in love with him and drafts him in the 1st round. His athletic abilty is off the chart as far as combined athleticism.

Here's his bio from the Wolpacks' home site: http://gopack.collegesports.com/sports/ ... nny00.html

I'd love to get this guy as a speedy DE. his athletic ability is off the charts. but his stock is rising and he could be taken in the late 1st

I wouldn't mind if he was available and the Lions took him with the 40th pick in the draft. Remember that teams with the same record (Buffalo, Detroit, Arizona) rotate their picks every round. However, I have concerns that he might only be a pass-rushing specialist instead of an every down DE. As stated previously, Lawson may be better suited as a 3-4 OLB.

From what I've read Lawson has the frame to put on another 15-20 lbs, but we can't be sure of how that will affect his quickness. Lawson is said to be chiseled and has good strength. But he gets overpowered once the bigger tackles get locked onto him. He is most definitely a first day pick, with a real good chance of being a first rounder. I highly doubt he will be around when the Lions pick in round two as San Francisco would take him ahead of us in that round. He would be a good replacement for Julian Peterson as a rush OLB in their 3-4. I could even see Pittsburgh taking him in round one. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jacksonville take him and use him as a down DE in their defense. They need a pass rusher there, and Lawson would be the best available unless Kiwi falls that far.

This is actually were I was thinking he was the most likely to go M2K. I've read San Fran talked to him alot, and figured theres too much talent for him to slide into the first round.

what about victor Adeyanju. he could be a steal in a later round. he is 6'4 270, and runs a 4.61 forty. he played at Indiana so he has experience against good competition in the Big 10, four year starter, he has a great motor, hes a hard worker, AND HE IS DURABLE something not very many lions players can say about themselves. the negatives are he is raw, needs to work on his technique, and he must develope more pass rush moves.

he has great potential and Marinelli would be able to work on his weeknesses.

He is actually started to climb many draft boards, especially since Darryl Tapp is falling like nighttime temperatures in the arctic. I think Adeyanju is a mid to late second rounder, but it's highly unlikely he cracks into the first round.
