Hypothetical: Who will slide to us in the second round?
About this time there a lot of underage or unheralded prospects like Merriman and Ware that start shooting up the draft charts after their work outs. This forces some of the earlier consensus #1 picks to drop into the second round.
What big nameplayer has a chance to slide to us in the second round?
One player that might fit this bill is Matt Roth.

matt roth would be sweet. my spidey sense tells me david pollack could slip right out of the first round. a number of early mock drafts had him being taken by the lions with the 10th pick. i just don't see it.

I really doubt that Pollack would drop out of the first round. There are too many teams that like him. I do agree that he will likely fall later than #10. If the Lions could trade down to #16 or so he would still figure to be available.

I think David Pollack could...it would be great if we can get Antrel Rolle in the 1st and Pollack in the 2nd.

Nice topic. I have a mock starting tommorrow and I'm the Lions GM.
Matt Roth is a guy I have been reading up on and he seems like terrific fit. He has a motor that doesn't quit and good size.
Other possibilities include...
Alex Smith, TE
DeMarcus Ware, DE
Channing Crowder, ILB
Brodney Pool, S
David Baas, G
Ernest Shazor, S

I would love Brodney on this team to battle it out with Holt, then we can waive Marion...

This isn't a 2nd round steal, but I would like to see us pick up my man sproles in the draft. He is the one I wanted to inherit Barry's throne when I saw him last year in a bowl.
BTW Spidey, did you like your smiley?

I didn't mean for it to sound like he will be the next barry, but he could be a good rb, IMO. We have a great starter and a good backup, but Darren could be a very good 3rd down back and or prospect.

absolutely.
sproles isn't worthy of a second round pick. he will go much later in the draft. the lions don't need another rb but he would make a nice change of pace back with kj.

If the Lions don't take Barron in the first round, I'm thinking Barron and Brown could be the only O-linemen taken. Kalif Barnes or Adam Terry could fall into the Lions laps in round two. I'm not sure either is much of a slip though.
I think Shazor is going to slip out of the first round in the draft. There doesn't seem to be much buzz about him (except for the Wolverine lovers).
Positionally, there are so many defensive ends available this year some will surely slip. I agree with thedanzone about Roth, he could fall to the Lions. Jason Tuck of Notre Dame might also be there.

Shazor might slip to the latter half of round 2 or even rd 3. Stuart Schweigert went in rd 3 last year... Pollack is not a top notch athlete, i doubt that he is impressing many at workouts; I expect him to drop and for someone to get great value in rd 2.

Barnes has been climbing the boards since the combine, Brown hasn't. I look for Barnes to be taking before Brown.
With the need to upgrade at SS and FS, which so many teams need, Shazor will be gone late rd 1.
Poole would be a good addition in the 2nd and could "slip." Of course, he was slated to go late first, early 2nd, so not much of a slip there.
Pollack has had some very solid workouts and considered a "workout warrior," so I don't know about that.

If Roth slides, grab him nomatter who we pick in the first. If not look for Baas or Terry in the 2nd, Alex Smith is also a possiblity here.
