Sliding to Second Round Mock Draft Game
Every year, for various reasons, consensus first round picks slip into the second round. This depends on the archaelogy of talent strata, team needs, and various evalution standards. The object of this game is to predict who will be available when Detroit picks at #41. You nominate three players that will be available for Millne on draft day. If they are available at 41 you score their point total. Their value depends on their rating per NFL.com's Kirwan and the GBN.
Most Certainly Gone: 1000 pts

Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina
Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma
20.Marcus Spears, DE, Louisiana State

I would love Brodney Pool here, him and Terrance Holt battling it out would be ideal then we can go ahead and cut Marion next off season...
I say the lions choose Brodney Pool with the 41st selection...

Matt Jones as a #3 wideout...or #3 QB...or both!
Anttaj Hawthorne is a BEAST and we be an awesome addition to the DL.
Alex Smith would be a good pick, but you've gotta imagine that when we pick next year (hopefully 32, but probably around 22), a solid TE will be available. Smith would be a good pick here though.
Odell Thurman would be an awesome addition at #42.
Depends on what we do in the first. If we go O in the first, I say draft a DT, DE if a solid one slips, or Shazor/Poole. If we go D in the first, I say draft an OT in the 2nd or a WR is a solid one slips.

Those are not valid submissions!
One other essential rule: 350 bonus points if you designate the Lions actual pick.

Oh, I was just throwing in my 2 cents on people I liked. Anyway, I'd go...
Brodney Poole (if he's still there, someone screwed up)
Odell Thurman
Anttaj Hawthorne
Matt Jones (Poole's likely to be gone)

Roth would be a steal in round 2...even though we could desperately use Brown (as long as we didn't get Barron in the first).

I'm partial to Roth because I've seen him play for so long (being that the Iowa - Iowa State game is a huge rivalry). Tuck and Ware are both good, but Ware is the better of the two.

#1 Adam Terry OT
#2 Matt Roth DE
#3 Odell Thurman ILB
Alex Smith is also a possibility, any of these players would be a great pick.

1. Demarcus Ware 600
2. Barret Rudd 600
3. Roddy White 600
possible 1800 pts... don't think the Lions will draft any of these three so no bonus 350 for me.

Ruud is a good MLB, I wouldn't mind taking him - Holmes won't be here for much longer. Only downfall is that Ruud isn't very agile and could get burned.

 Top three 2nd round selections
Once again I believe that the o/d lines are the key to winning football games. So I submit the following nominations for the LIONS second round pick in the order of my preference.
1. David Baas OG/C
2. Adam Terry OT
3. DeMarcus Ware DE
I would be pleased with any of these picks.

If you are interested in playing the game, not that you have to be-and there is no prize, it is probably a good idea to designate your picked by the Lions candidate since there is no penalty for missing.
