Post Re: Obama Bashing Thread
Au contraire, it's not derailing it was speaking directly to your comment about how Obamrade had not facilitated or caused the death of millions of people. His Executive Order, which has just been resended, has allowed PA PP to be funded with Tax Payer money. This is just the tip of the ice berg as other states are surely in the pipeline, it just happens to be a Democratic State that is receiving the "test run."

As for rationing Health Care: This is exactly the Communist Mentality. A Russian immigrant in my area told this story: "I don't understand you Americans, in my old country we kill our old, in your country you kill your young."

The elderly have funded the very system that is being robbed by the "Social Security" as a way of life crowd. Now throw in millions of Illegal Aliens who are or have learned how to work the system, and now we are paying them too. It is the inner city, failing to work, living off the system, uber-breeding, crowd that needs it's hand removed from the cookie jar.

As for your comment about money wasted so that we could, kidnap and brutually murder millions of people, I don't know to whom you are referring. If you are speaking of the military conflicts abroad, then I would say two things:

1. you have your right to comment because someone else has taken your place on the front lines.
2. if a person has information that I need to catch and destroy terrorists, and is refusing to give that information up, then extreme measures need to be taken. Please don't misunderstand me: I am not talking about hanging people by finger tips and beating them with hoses, or waterboarding. But I am talking about sleep deprivation, or truth serums, and the like. Now if you are a KNOWN enemy combatant like the knucklehead from New York, then I say they beat you until they get every last piece of evidence you have, and then give you a .38 bullet.
In protecting this country, and our people, there should NEVER be any hand holding, tree hugging, can't we all just get along tolerance.

I think the best line I've EVER seen in regards to what is going on is from the movie TAKEN. "You come to this country, take advantage of the system and think because we are tolerant that we are weak and helpless. Your arrogance offends me.

That is why we need to be TOUGH, and Zero tolerant with criminal or terrorist elements that would wage war on our wives and kids, instead of our military. But instead they hide behind "human shields" knowing that we will not fight because of collateral damage. The Russians didn't care they just blew everybody away, in order to get the target. In my personal opinion, if the Military can build trust and relationship with the people, then the people will turn on terrorists. The difficulty is what do we have to absorb for that to happen? Empowering simple farmers, who greatly outnumber the taliban, to fight against them is how it needs to happen, but I don't believe they've found a legitimate way to do that. They tried it in Vietnam and it failed because of a corrupt system of government, in Afghanistan you have the same scenario with Karzai, so it doomed unless you can get the people to rally behind someone who is willing to work for the people. In other words, how do you teach INTEGRITY, and service to a culture/world that doesn't understand the meaning of these things.

Two short points:

1) Just because you paid into Medicare doesn't mean you should have unlimited health coverage. Medicare and Social Security were designed decades ago, when people didn't live as long as they do now. The systems weren't designed to pay for Grannies $400k chemo therapy treatments when she's going to die of old age in five years anyway. Granted, removing those people who suck off the system is a needed reform, but I'm still in favor of rationing.

2) You completely misinterpreted my second paragraph. Originally, you equated Obama's funding of planned parenthood to Hitler's genocide. I'm saying the two are not equal, even if you believe abortion to be fully equivalent to murdering a human being.

Your right Blueskies... Hitler killed far less Jews than abortion has in the US. Let's be fair to Hitler...

Perhaps, going on The View wasn't a great idea afterall:
The Hill wrote:
President Obama calls African-Americans a ‘mongrel people’
By Sam Youngman - 07/29/10 11:00 AM ET

NEW YORK — President Obama waded into the national race debate in an unlikely setting and with an unusual choice of words: telling daytime talk show hosts that African-Americans are “sort of a mongrel people.”

The president appeared on ABC’s morning talk show “The View” Thursday, where he talked about the forced resignation of Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod, his experience with race and his roots.

When asked about his background, which includes a black father and white mother, Obama said of African-Americans: "We are sort of a mongrel people."

"I mean we're all kinds of mixed up," Obama said. "That's actually true of white people as well, but we just know more about it."

The president did not appear to be making an inflammatory remark with his statement. The definition of mongrel as an adjective is defined as "of mixed breed, nature, or origin," according to dictionary.com.

The race debate was reignited after Sherrod’s firing. Obama also addressed the issue in his speech to the National Urban League 100th Anniversary Convention in Washington on Thursday morning.

But in his interview on “The View,” which was taped Wednesday but aired Thursday, the president said the Sherrod story was prompted when the media "generated a phony controversy."

"A lot of people overreacted, including people in my administration," he said.

Obama called Sherrod last week after Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack apologized for her firing.

Obama noted "there's still a reptilian side of our brain" that leads people to not trust others "if somebody sounds different or looks different."

The president stressed that what's "important is how you treat people."

Obama discussed a wide range of issues as the first sitting president to appear on a daytime talk show.

He was challenged by Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the conservative voice on the all-women panel, about his claim to have saved 2.5 million jobs with his recovery act and his inability to unite the country.

On the latter, Obama said that "right after the election there was a sense of hopefulness and unity," but "the politics of the economic recovery" and steps he took to save the auto companies created a partisan divide.

"My hope is that I've tried to set a tone in the debate that says, 'Look, we can disagree without being disagreeable,'" Obama said.

On the economy, Obama told Hasselbeck that she was "absolutely right" that enough jobs have not returned, but he brushed her back on her assertion that saving jobs is not as important as adding jobs.

"Well, it makes a difference, though, if your job was one that was saved," Obama said.

While the president conceded that "we are not bouncing back as quick as we need to," he said he does think the American economy will get its "mojo back over the next several months."

"Don't bet against American workers," Obama said. "Don't bet against American ingenuity."

Obama responded to questions from Barbara Walters and Joy Behar about his tough critics in the conservative media by saying he is more worried about the American people than himself.

"You said it's been tough for me, but the truth is it's not tough for me," Obama said. "I don't spend a lot of time worrying about me. I spend a lot of time worrying about them."

Behar, a vocal liberal, teed up the president to talk about his critics on the right, asking Obama "where's your attack dog?"

But Obama didn’t take the bait, responding "we shouldn't be campaigning all the time. There's a time to campaign, and there's a time to govern."

"I'm not perfect. My administration's not perfect," Obama said. "A lot of this criticism I listen to, and it's fair, I try to correct it."

Obama taped the interview Wednesday when he was in New York City for two Democratic National Committee fundraisers. He also spent Wednesday in New Jersey talking about the economy.

only if you're black! Do it otherwise and be prepared for a fight. It's about as bad as that other word, which people need to learn the definition of btw.

Blueskies: Your 2nd paragraph strikes me as one where you are trying to say that there are two different types of life.

1. Hitler murdered living, breathing, human beings of a particular race.
2. Obama is stream lining the process by which human beings are being murdered as a way of birth control in MANY races. Life is life, and yet you appear to be standing with the leftist who say life only counts in outer space, or if you are actually walking and breathing. It's called splitting hairs in order to keep from admitting truth. Or maybe we could just call it relevence. Truth is based upon your perspective, instead of the bedrock truth that we USED to be accustomed to.

Barack Hussein Obama did not sneak into power. An army of clueless, disconnected, ignorant Americans invited him to bring his Marxist, glaringly anti-American jihad into our lives. This president's overtly destructive, clear-and-present-danger agenda is surpassed in transparency only by his ultra-leftist public voting record and overall lifetime conduct of consorting with the enemy as a child and student of Marxism, socialist and racist community organizer, congregant of the blatant America-hating black-theology- and social-justice-spewing Rev. Jeremiah Wright and close personal friend of convicted communist terrorists like Bill Ayers, and by his unflinching appointment of an array of communist czars, including Van Jones, Cass Sunstein, Anita Dunne, et al. So let me get this straight: You claim your intentions were noble because you simply wanted to get your child a puppy but somehow didn't notice that it was foaming at the mouth, and now you're shocked that your child has rabies? I think not. That is not a mistake. It is negligence -- dangerous, life threatening and, I am convinced, downright criminal negligence.

And the price for such negligence is catastrophic, don't you know.

But it gets worse. For, you see, the blame doesn't fall just on the obvious stupidity of our friends and families who voted for this corrupt, death-wish government in whose stranglehold we find ourselves. Ultimately, it is our fault. It is the failure of those of us who know better but have failed miserably to educate our own. Living our lives with a captive audience of family, friends, co-workers, socialites, fellow worshippers at church and other parents at school -- everyone in our everyday walks of life -- far too many of us have allowed uneducated, history-devoid, denial-riddled, fantasy-driven, anti-gun and anti-hunting, anti-capitalism general ignoramuses to remain so and run amok, when by all thoughtful considerations, it was our duty to educate and upgrade everyone in our lives to truth, logic and the American way.

It is the terminal curse of apathy and disconnect that got us into this shameless mess we find America in today, and in all honesty, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

We all saw it coming, but political correctness caused most of us to clam up in the ridiculous mindset that it was more important to avoid hurting feelings than to stand up for what we knew in our hearts was being trampled underfoot. Sadly, America has become a nation of ultra-thin-skinned, whining little girls, afraid of our own shadows and so cowardly as to back away from the simple solution of speaking the truth when we know we are supposed to do so.

I have been damned as being a radical extremist my entire adult life for simply standing up and relentlessly promoting and celebrating self-evident truth, logic and common sense. The devil brigade acting upon the Saul Alinsky deception playbook has made its mark by lying, cheating and attacking with the very hate that it accuses everybody else of harboring. With an overall complicit media to bullhorn the brigade's agenda, a nation of sheep has taken the pill and swallowed it whole.

Welcome to the new fat, soft, cowardly nation of wimps with the perfectly corrupt president and pack of soulless hounds in government that they deserve.

Look at Harry Reid. Charlie Rangel. Listen to Nancy Pelosi. What kind of idiots do they represent? A huge army of idiots who wish to do nothing for their country, but whine for their government to do everything for them. Welcome to France, ladies and gentlemen, only worse.

There always have been bad, ignorant people in the world. But in the United States of America, land of the free and home of the brave, the epicenter of rugged individualism founded on the premise of live free or die, where the powerful DNA of defiance got us where we are as the last, best place on Earth, the ultimate violation is that so many hardworking, truly entrepreneurial, independent Americans backed down and failed to stand up when we saw the wimps squawking about all the wrong stuff.

Everything from the New Deal and Great Society on has been a dismal and grossly counterproductive failure, yet we continue to allow corrupt bureaucrats to keep jamming more of the same down our throats with barely a whimper of resistance. How pathetic. How lame. How un-American.

The Tea Party is a better-late-than-never step in the right direction back to the glorious "we the people" experiment in self-government, but as far as I'm concerned, we haven't begun to turn up the heat nearly enough quite yet.

Each and every conservative and liberal American who knows that we cannot spend and tax our way out of debt, who knows that an exit strategy instead of a victory strategy is the same as surrender, who knows Fedzilla is criminal in its refusal to be accountable with our hard-earned tax dollars being blowtorched with unprecedented and insane wastefulness, that a federal government suing Arizona for simply implementing constitutional law is treasonous, and who fails to communicate this with everyone we know is actually complicit with this bizarre, fundamental transformation of the greatest country in the history of humankind.

What in God's good name are we thinking? How much more of this can we possibly put up with? Will we show true American fortitude to stop the beast at the voting booths in November and in every election in the future to make sure no more communists, no more Marxists, no more anti-American redistributors of wealth are allowed in positions of power ever again? Can we outvote the pimps, whores and welfare brats? Will we be smart enough to put every politician to the Pelosi-Obama litmus test? We will be smart enough never to let a Mao Zedong fan club in the White House ever again?

Will we have learned our lesson that we the people have a daily, moral responsibility to be suspicious of everyone in government and the media and watchdog them properly from now on? Will we finally never forget? Will we finally say never again and mean it?

Will we finally use the incredible freedoms as provided by the sacrifices of our amazing warrior heroes of the U.S. military to be sure this insanity can never happen again? Can we show at least that basic respect for the privilege of being American and how we got here?
It is not them, it is us. Pogo was right.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jul/30/it-is-us/
This article is similar to one I read from Europe a couple of months ago. It said that the problem with the US wasn't Obama. It was the American people who were stupid enough to elect him in the first place. Unfortunately, it's sad, but true.

That's why I've taken it upon myself to educate those around me about the horrors of Obama, liberals, and their socialist agenda. So far, I've converted atleast a dozen, but some others are beyond help. In those cases, I either give up or shoot for a half victory. An example of that are my two gay neighbors across the street. I've convinced them that Obama is a socialist that is destroying our country, but they refuse to give up on Democrats that support gay rights. In some cases, you just gotta take what you can get.

Here's yet another example of a Democrat turning against Obama:

As a supporter of you and your campaign against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination, nevertheless, I am extremely disappointed with your administration. As an attorney myself, I am concerned about facts v. opinion. From a historical point of view cutting taxes creates economic development and increasing taxes creates the opposite. You are an attorney who is refusing to recognize facts. You do so purely for political purposes to generate votes to keep you in office.

As to energy independence, you are kowtowing to the environmental radicals who want to go to green energy. With all due respect, electric cars, which you are now supporting, will not have enough energy to support commerce or emergency services for two reasons. Firstly, the energy grid in this country could not support plugging in all these vehicles, and secondly, should a hurricane or major natural disaster knock out the electric energy producing companies, it would place all American citizens in that area at risk, since they cannot have fire or police protection or get to work to support their families. Katrina taught us that Mother Nature rules.

In respect to cutting spending for the space program, you ignore the fact that space exploration has produced technology giving us cell phones, computers, etc. This program has also provided technology for defending our nation in case of attack. It destroys the traditional philosophy of this nation to reach for the stars, which has made us distinct from all other nations in the history of the world.

As for the defense budget, once again, you have cut the defense budget, which puts our country at risk. Bullies only understand one thing, which is strength. It is not Kumbaya, apparently your philosophy. I learned that lesson as a child when my father taught me how to box in an attempt to defend myself against bullies. It worked well when I was a youngster and works internationally. Obviously, you never learned that lesson from your own father.

I cannot disagree with those who criticize you as being a socialist at best and Marxist at worst. Your strategy to push us down the road of Marxism is obvious. Since you will probably not be re-elected in the next presidential campaign, everything is a rush. The Democratic Party is essentially a one party system in this country.

Your philosophy will destroy the United States and make us no better than the failed socialist and communist nations around the world. You apparently defend all criticisms as racism, which is a typical political knee-jerk reaction. These criticisms are not based on race, but on philosophy. After all, it was white America that elected you to office and who adopted all the affirmative action and discrimination laws in place today. The black community could not have done this based upon its numbers.

Your handling of the gulf oil leak is despicable. You should have allowed every possible company, country, etc. to help contain this leak as soon as possible. From a hypocritical point of view, you blamed George Bush for not responding soon enough to Katrina, yet for political reasons, you failed to respond fully and quickly to the oil leak. Obviously, your support of environmental radicals for their vote made your decision.

In conclusion and in my opinion, you have failed this nation. Please resign and avoid the embarrassment of not being re-elected or impeached.

Steven R. Heuberger

White House ramps up damage control over Obama Chicago gay history(WMR)

White House ramps up damage control over Obama Chicago gay history
publication date: Jul 17, 2010

The story about President Barack Obama's bi-sexual past will not go away. Now, in an exclusive interview with The Globe, Norma Jean Young, the 76-year old mother of the late Trinity United Church of Christ choir director Donald Young, has spoken out and declared that persons trying to protect Obama murdered her son at the height of the 2007 Democratic presidential primary to protect Obama from embarrassing revelations about his homosexual relationship with her son. Donald Young's bullet-ridden body was found in his Chicago apartment on December 23, 2007, in what appeared to be an assassination-style slaying.

Norma Jean Young revealed to The Globe that her son Donald, who was openly gay, was a "close friend" of Obama. Mrs. Young also believes the Chicago Police Department has not placed a high priority on finding the killers of her son. Mrs. Young, who is, herself a former employee of the Chicago Police Department, told The Globe that, "There is more to the story," adding, "I do believe they are shielding somebody or protecting someone."

The Globe's revelations are consistent with information obtained by WMR during a May investigation conducted in Chicago. On May 24, WMR reported:"President Obama and his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel are lifetime members of the same gay bath house in uptown Chicago, according to informed sources in Chicago's gay community, as well as veteran political sources in the city." The report added, "WMR spoke to several well-placed sources in Chicago who reported that Jeremiah Wright, the pastor of Obama's former church of 20 years, Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) on Chicago's south side, ran what was essentially a matchmaking service for gay married black professional members of the church, including lawyers and businessmen, particularly those with children. The matchmaking club was called the 'Down Low Club' but references to it over the phone and email simply referred to the group with the code phrase 'DLC.' The ruse, according to our sources, was to make anyone who was eavesdropping on the communications [FBI wiretaps in the Rod Blagojevich case likely contain such references] believe that the references were to the Democratic Leadership Council, also known as the DLC . . . Among the members of the gay 'DLC' were Obama and TUCC's choir director, Donald Young, an openly gay man who reportedly had a sexual relationship with Obama. Two other gay members of the church were Larry Bland and Nate Spencer. Young and Bland were brutally murdered, execution style, in late 2007. Bland was murdered on November 17, 2007 and Young on December 24, 2007. The latter was killed by multiple gunshot wounds. Spencer reportedly died on December 26, 2007, official cause of death: 'septicemia, pneumonia, and HIV.'"

Note: Blagojevich's defense in his federal corruption trial is slated to begin today in Chicago. Judge James Zagel has denied the defense's request for all the government's wiretaps to be played. The tapes, as previously reported by WMR, contain some earthy references to Obama's and his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel's homosexual habits.

Larry Sinclair, the gay man who claimed to have had two sexual encounters with Obama in Chicago in 1999, wrote a book, "Cocaine, Sex, Lies & Murder," in which he states that Obama was linked to Young's murder. Sinclair wrote that he was in contact with Young shortly before his murder and Young revealed his relationship with Obama. At the time of his revelations about Obama at a National Press Club news conference, WMR doubted the veracity of Sinclair's story due to the absence of corroborating evidence coupled with a bizarre news conference. However, since that time, WMR has received corroboration from a number of sources in a number of locations, including Chicago, Alabama, Georgia, and Washington, DC. WMR has received information that various competing camps, including the Hillary Clinton and John McCain campaigns, attempted to co-opt Sinclair and his revelations for their own political purposes. Sinclair, it should be noted, has not deviated from his original story or charges against Obama.

Sinclair's book is now the subject of a defamation lawsuit [Daniel Parisi, et al v. Lawrence W. Sinclair a/k/a "Larry Sinclair," et al] brought by Dan Parisi, the proprietor of the website, Whitehouse.com, who is mentioned in Sinclair's book with regard to his involvement in polygraphs administered to Sinclair after he made his allegations against Obama public during the 2008 presidential campaign. The lawsuit is being handled by the politically powerful Patton & Boggs law firm, the same firm that represented George W. Bush's top political adviser Karl Rove in the Valerie Plame Wilson/CIA leak, and has been filed against Sinclair, his publishing company, and distributors, including Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Sinclair is currently a resident of Florida.

On June 19, 2008, WMR reported: "WhiteHouse.com held a news conference following Sinclair's at which a video of Sinclair's polygraph was to be shown. After experiencing technical difficulties with the video presentation, Parisi abruptly canceled the news conference and took no questions." The aborted news conference was as bizarre as Sinclair's. Sinclair was arrested by Washington, DC police following his news conference based on a warrant from Delaware issued by Vice President candidate Joseph Biden's son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden. The Delaware charges against Sinclair were later dropped.

The lawsuit against Sinclair has been assigned to Judge Richard Leon, the Republican deputy chief minority counsel on the House Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions with Iran, aka, the Iran-contra scandal. From 1988 to 1989, he served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and from 1992 to 1993 was the Republican chief minority counsel on the House Foreign Affairs Committee's October Surprise Task Force investigating the 1980 Reagan-Bush campaign's secret dealings with Iran to ensure the defeat of President Jimmy Carter. Leon Leon was nominated for the federal bench by President George W. Bush on September 10, 2001. Leon's involvement in so many high-level cover-ups of White House misconduct makes him an illogical choice to hear a case involving serious allegations against President Obama.

Sinclair has told WMR that he believes the Obama White House is trying to have his book withdrawn from circulation to avoid any further embarrassments about Obama's homosexual past and the possible involvement of his top lieutenants in Young's murder. The Globe reported in May 2008 that a top Chicago private detective said he believed Young was "rubbed out" because of his relationship with Obama. Sinclair has echoed the private eye's beliefs about Young and Obama. The Globe reports that before his death, Young was planning to flee to Africa to teach. The information was provided to The Globe by Young's mother, who also now fears for her life and plans to leave her Peoria, Illinois home for a secret location. Mrs. Young said the Chicago police have warned her that her life is in danger.

American Thinker wrote:
Our Patrick Henry Moment Is Here

Obama's election was supposed to transform America, at least in his mind.

This country's first socialist president strode into office confident that he would remake this country. Fortunately for the country, the timing of his election was twenty, if not fifty, years too late. Socialism has failed in its pure form wherever it has been tried. Now it has failed in its modified form. While much of the world realizes this, President Obama is either ignorant or has more sinister plans for the country.

In the 1920s, Ludwig von Mises demonstrated via economic reasoning why socialism could not work. His argument was that without market prices, there was no way to properly allocate resources. About ten years later, Friedrich Hayek supported Mises' conclusion from a different angle. He approached it as a "knowledge problem" and argued that no central authority, regardless of how intelligent, could possess enough information to make proper and efficient decisions for tens of millions of people and businesses.

History validated the theory of the two Austrian economists. Russia, China, Eastern Europe, Cuba, and North Korea produced inevitable the misery, poverty, and brutality. The two countries that continue the system are amongst the poorest countries in the world, held together only by totalitarian rule and outside economic support.

With the recognition that socialism did not work, "do-gooders" changed their efforts to a system that would be part capitalism and part socialism. They believed that capitalism could be used for resource allocation while the "caring nature" of socialism could ensure equitable distribution of wealth. President Clinton expressed interest in what was then referred to as a "third-way." Western Europe had adopted this approach decades earlier.

Interestingly, Mises argued that a "third way" could not work, either. In the 1940s, Mises demonstrated that one intervention begets additional interventions. A so-called mixed system is nothing more than capitalism with interventionism imposed. Mises showed that any such system eventually degenerates into full-fledged socialism. In a collection of essays entitled "Planning for Freedom," Mises concluded:

There is no other alternative to totalitarian slavery than liberty. There is no other planning for freedom and general welfare than to let the market system work. There is no other means to attain full employment, rising real wage rates and a high standard of living for the common man than private initiative and free enterprise.

The countries of Western Europe have, as Mises predicted, deteriorated into social welfare states likely never imagined or intended at their inceptions. As full-blown socialism approached, these countries became insolvent. Soon all will be forced to either dismantle their welfare states or incur sovereign defaults. The U.S., while never formally adopting either socialism or the mixed system, drifted into the mixed system by gradually adopting many socialist programs. As a result, the U.S. faces the same future of insolvency as its European counterparts.

In terms of history, the mixed system dates back only to Bismarck in the 1880s. It was initiated in a few countries in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Its widespread acceptance occurred after World War II, when several countries chose not to return to the decentralized economies that existed prior to the war. England was the prime example. Industries nationalized for the war effort remained nationalized after the war. England rapidly devolved into a third-rate economy as a result. Prime Minister Thatcher reversed the decline by re-privatizing most of these industries.

It took only about fifty to seventy years for the mixed systems to fail. That is literally a moment in terms of history. Many people are still reluctant to admit that socialism is a failure despite the theoretical warnings and the actual failures themselves. With socialists, it is never the system and always the people that are the cause of failure. "If only we had better leaders." As Hayek and Mises pointed out, it has nothing to do with leadership. There is a fatal flaw in the concept.

As a result of attempting to extend the socialist myth, governments and their populations are now burdened with debt, much of which will never be paid. We are on the verge of a worldwide depression that will hit as governments run out of resources. It is likely that politicians will continue to play the game of "extend and pretend." But we have reached Ms. Thatcher's end-point: "The problem with socialism is that you run out of other people's money."

How ironic that President Obama's first major achievement was ObamaCare. In May, Greece was ordered to privatize its health care system. This month, it was reported that England was going to overhaul their health care system. England was frequently referenced as a model of affordable, efficient health care by ObamaCare advocates. Apparently, the English government and its people view it differently.

These instances are not one-time events. Nor will they be limited to health care. The welfare states of Europe will soon be dismantled in part or whole. So too will the entitlement programs in the U.S. The laws of economics and physics are immutable. They are above legislation. Countries do not have the resources necessary to honor their commitments, period!

Our Founding Fathers, without using the term socialism, designed a Constitution to protect against such incoherent schemes. Over time, the Constitution was vitiated by "living document" interpretations, penumbras, and other nonsense. Now, the U.S. stands on the precipice of failure just as Western Europe. It is insolvent, and there are no other alternatives than to default or dismantle.

The world is at a very dangerous inflection point. We are about to enter a depression. Politicians are not going to back away from socialism willingly. They and large numbers of other beneficiaries will do whatever they can to retain the status quo. Despite the unequivocal failure of the modern welfare state, it is unlikely to disappear quietly. The status quo is always difficult to change. It becomes especially so in desperate economic times and for people who believe they are entitled to be taken care of by others.

The welfare state is headed for the dustbin of history. That is certain because it is no longer sustainable. The critical question is what will replace it. As Mises pointed out, there are only two alternatives: freedom or totalitarianism. There is no middle ground. There is no political compromise that can bridge this gap.

Regardless of which side of the issue you are on, the battle will be bitter and likely last a decade or more. Economically, everyone will be hurt, including many of the "well-off." Whether our moral and ethical code is strong enough to get through this together is moot. We are not like our ancestors in the sense of their strong commitment to community, responsibility, forbearance, and integrity. We are the pampered generation, entitled to gratification now and willing to cut corners to get it.

In many ways, this problem is more serious than that faced by our Founding Fathers. After all, King George had little control over their lives or fortunes. Yet these principled men risked both rather than accept even a little bit of tyranny. Theirs was a fight of principle; ours is one of survival. The fight is made more important when it is coupled with a depression. We know what monsters rose to power during the last depression and their effect on the world.

We will either get liberty or totalitarianism. There is no middle ground. For me, the choice is clear and was stated by Patrick Henry more than two centuries ago: "Give me liberty or give me death."

I am willing to sacrifice just as much as our Founding Fathers did so that my grandchildren and their grandchildren can live in the same country I grew up in. I hope enough others feel the same.

More wasteful spending from the Stimulus Bill:

Tunnel to Nowhere Among Millions Wasted in Stimulus Spending, Senate GOP Report Says

By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – The federal government is spending $62 million on a tunnel to nowhere in Pittsburgh, Pa., $89,000 on a sidewalk that leads to a ditch in Boynton, Okla., and almost $200,000 to study voter perception of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus act, from which these other projects are funded.

That’s according to a report released on Tuesday by the offices of Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma. Both Coburn and McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, opposed the stimulus bill backed by President Barack Obama.

The $862-billion stimulus bill was signed into law by Obama in February 2009.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs scoffed at the Republicans' report. “This has much more to do with politics,” Gibbs said.

When asked if he believed it was a credible report, Gibbs said, “no.”

The 74-page report includes numerous projects, such as:

-- $554,763 for the National Forest Service to replace windows in a closed visitor center at Mount St. Helens;

-- $762,372 to create “Dance Draw” interactive dance software;

-- $1.9 million for international ant research;

-- $1.8 million for a road project that is threatening a pastor’s home;

-- $308 million for a joint clean energy venture with BP, a highly unpopular firm since the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico;

-- $3.8 million for a “streetscaping” project that has reduced traffic and caused a business to fire two employees;

-- $16 million to help Boeing clean up an environmental mess it created in 2007;

-- $200,000 to help Siberian communities lobby Russian policymakers;

-- $39.7 million to upgrade the statehouse and political offices in Topeka, Kan.;

-- $760,000 to Georgia Tech to study improvised music;

-- $700,000 to study why monkeys respond negatively to inequity;

-- $363,760 to help NIH promote the positive impacts of stimulus projects;

-- $456,663 to study the circulation of Neptune’s atmosphere;

-- $529,648 to study the effects of local populations on the environment…in the Himalayas.

“Eighteen months since the passage of the stimulus bill, millions of jobs are still gone and the economy is as uncertain as ever,” Coburn and McCain wrote in the report. “The only thing getting a boost is our national debt. The stimulus has helped push it 23 percent higher, to $13.2 trillion, a new record.”

Gibbs pointed out that Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics who advised the McCain campaign, recently completed a report with Princeton economist Alan Binder on what would have happened to the economy in the absence of the stimulus act and the $700 billion bailout of the financial industry, also known as Troubled Assets Relief Program.

“I think the best person for Sen. McCain to debate on this is the chief economic advisor of his own presidential campaign, who not only weighed in on the president’s recovery plan but has in the last week written an analysis on what our economy would look like without the steps that we took. It’s a report that says instead of 8 million jobs lost, that figure would be 16 million jobs,” Gibbs said.

CBS News reporter Chip Reid – who covered the McCain campaign – argued that Zandi is a registered Democrat, was only an outside adviser to the McCain campaign and did not formulate the campaign’s economic policy, but Gibbs nevertheless was dismissive of the question.

Gibbs insisted that the stimulus act is working, adding that Vice President Joe Biden is still overseeing the expenditures.

“Every day the vice president and the vice president’s staff work diligently to assure that projects that receive funding abide by certain standards, all available on the Internet, a level of transparency not seen in government programs, particularly those with the magnitude of this,” Gibbs said.

I think it's funny that Baghdad Bob Gibbs is calling this report "political" when most of the spending was political to begin with. :roll:

In these tough and turbulent economic times, we need to look for small things we can be thankful for.

For example, I am thankful President Obama is not a lifeguard, as I believe he would toss concrete blocks to drowning swimmers instead of life preservers.

Why do I believe that? His economic policies are drowning our economy, leaving many Americans unemployed or underemployed, and he knows it.

Mr. Obama can squawk all he wants and blame everyone from President George W. Bush to Tea Partiers to Fox News, but our anemic economy is the result of his willingness to allow Fedzilla to gorge mindlessly on more and more grotesque spending and borrowing and to sign more blubber-infested bills that no one has read or knows how to implement or what the impact will be on the economy.

The evidence is glaring. The business community does not trust Mr. Obama. It doesn't trust his socialist economy-killing policies, his Wall Street reform sham that no one understands, his takeover of the health care system. Businessmen are very uneasy about his cap-and-tax proposal, green-energy scam and his plans to kill the Bush tax cuts early next year.

Business owners, entrepreneurs and investors know these wrongheaded economic polices are drowning the economy. So they are pulling in their financial horns and holding as much as $3 trillion on the sidelines instead of using that cash to invest in American businesses and innovation. Who can blame them?

And yet the president has the unmitigated gall to state that he believes it is the private sector that has always been America's source of job creation. Actions always speak louder than words, and this administration's actions are blatantly anti-business and therefore anti-American. Phenomenal.

Talk to any business owner. To the person, from small-business owners to chief executives of medium-sized and large businesses, not a single one of them has told me that Mr. Obama or the Democrats in the District of Clowns have been good for business. None of them trusts him. In fact, some have gone so far as to tell me they think Mr. Obama despises the private sector and actually wants to kill it.

You cannot fault business owners for not trusting Fedzilla when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke recently stated that the future of the economy is "unusually uncertain." On the other hand, representatives of the Obama administration such as Treasury secretary and, hopefully, reformed tax cheat Timothy F. Geithner, have stated that the economy is beginning to grow. Mixed messages such as these create maximum uncertainty in the private sector. Wrong approach. Yet another rookie mistake.

Isn't there a community that needs organizing somewhere out there where the president's custom skills could be put to better use?

It is patently stupid to raise taxes on the job creators during a sluggish economy, or at any time, really. These are the very people who need a tax cut if you are truly interested in getting the economy going again and putting people back to work. Of course, if you want to drown the economy and create more unemployment and more dependency on Fedzilla, all you need to do is punish the job creators by raising taxes on them and advocating more outrageous job-killing legislation. I give you the Democratic Party.

It is a fundamental economic principle that if you want less of something, tax it. Only an uneducated idiot with no practical private-sector experience or an avowed Marxist does not understand this. So which is it?

You want a good-paying job? If so, do not put your trust and faith in the resident Fedzillacrats in the District of Clowns. Their modus operandi is to create dependency and put America's economic future on very thin ice. Fedzilla is a job- and economy-killing enterprise. Besides socialists and dependent bloodsuckers, who could possibly fail to grasp this?

Could common sense really be all that uncommon among the American people? I think not. The American people know intrinsically that tax cuts lead to prosperity, as proved by the economic growth during the 1960s, thanks to President Kennedy, and during the 1980s, thanks to President Reagan, leading to 25 years of prosperity. As I recall, even President Clinton got bitten by the tax-cut bug.

Americans also know that simpler is always better. Instead of the world's thickest, most convoluted and confusing book ever devised by man (the U.S. tax code), Americans know that a flat tax and much less government spending is the way to go. More Fedzilla regulation, central-planning boondogglers and more agencies and armies of bureaucrats strangle the free market and inhibit economic growth.

The only people whom common sense seems to evade are the Fedzillacrats inside the District of Clowns' Beltway, who genuflect at the altar of a 2,000-plus-page health care bill, a Wall Street reform bill and a confusing and mountainous tax code that even the IRS does not understand. They are drunk on stupid.

Fedzilla is broken on almost all levels. Big government does not work. It is not accountable, responsible or dependable. And the polls indicate the overwhelming majority of Americans now embrace this most basic and universal truth.

If ever there was a time when hardworking, logical Americans needed to reach deep inside for that most important American trait of defiance, it is now. It is time to raise hell. Let productive Americans take back control and take back our country. That's how we can get America working again.

I still get a chuckle when people say "But Clinton raised taxes and we prospered"! People forget that he also cut capital gains taxes amongst others. We also had the internet and .com bubble start because of his repeal of Glass/Steagle which caused the initial recession in G.W.'s first term that gets overlooked because of 9/11. The economy had confidence only because the republicans had control of the house and senate and cut spending. Nothing Obama is doing is creating confidence. The Stock Market is forseeing the republican's taking control with a sweep in November, and they're the only ones profiting. No one will create jobs or invest in new projects until they know what's going to happen, so we won't see any big growth until after November. And if by chance the dem's maintain control.... we're going to have a double dip.
