I also read somewhere about how Saddam was made to watch this. A Kurdish President is a big fat slap in Saddams face.

I would be extremely surprised if we see a democratic Iraq, especially in a western sense of a liberal democracy in the next two decades. Perhaps an Islamic Republic like Iran will emerge after an extensive Civil War.
