Post Just another reason....
I freakin' hate Democrats.

EDITORIAL: Guns for us, not for you
Land of fruits and nuts could see pistol-packing politicians

Some of the most far-out anti-gun laws are found on the left coast, but that could change - for privileged politicians. A California state Senate committee will consider a bill next week that grants legislators permission to carry concealed firearms. The measure highlights the growing rift between the bureaucratic class and taxpayers who don’t have the luxury of exempting themselves from bad laws.

Ordinary Californians who want a concealed carry permit need to apply to the local sheriff. In practice - outside of conservative, rural counties - only celebrities and the well-connected end up obtaining the coveted document. In a state of nearly 37 million, about 40,000 permits were issued in 2007. The proposal being offered by a pair of pro-gun state Senate Democrats would automatically define as eligible for a permit “any applicant who is a member of Congress, a statewide elected official or a Member of the Legislature.” These could carry a gun “for purposes of protection or self-defense.” Coddled lawmakers living in gated communities may think they face heightened risk, but it’s unlikely poor residents in sketchy urban neighborhoods have any less of a need.

California’s gun laws are strict and include a ban on high-capacity magazines and scary-looking “assault weapons” - a statute so arbitrary that the state had to create a 96-page picture book to illustrate which items are prohibited. The latest scheme took effect last year requiring guns to imprint their serial number on every shell casing fired. This law was adopted even though such “microstamping”technology isn’t available, and it would be extremely expensive if it were.

The motivation of lawmakers in layering restriction on top of restriction hasn’t been to stop bad guys. Criminals, by definition, don’t abide by the law. Rather, the primary purpose is to harass gun owners who do try to do what’s right. Such laws have proved irrelevant anyway. The gun grabbers predicted the 2004 expiration of the federal assault weapons ban would fill our streets with blood. The latest available FBI crime stats showed a 6.2 percent decrease in violent crimes for the first half of 2010. The number of murders without the ban is now 34 percent lower than when it took effect in 1994.

Practically any bill that respects the right to keep and bear arms in a left-leaning state ought to be supported, no matter how unlikely final passage may seem. Exempting politicians may be the exception. Already the Golden State’s legislative class doesn’t have to worry about high gas prices because taxpayers fill up their tanks. They use a “per diem” scheme to avoid paying their own high taxes on about $40,000 worth of their $140,000 annual compensation. Forcing legislators to live under the same crazy laws they expect everyone else to follow may help a few to appreciate the need for true reform.

So, these Democratic morons show their TRUE colors. We deserve the right to protect ourselves, but not you people.

FUKKIN' SHOOT THEM ALL!!!!!

I love how they think. Law abiding citizens don't mind things like, permits, ammunition registration, and microstamping, it's the "Bad Guys" who don't give a sh!t! When will these people realize their mistakes?

And this surprises you how? It's kinda like Al Gore demanding that everyone cut back on their energy usage to save the planet while flying around the world on private jets and running up $30,000 annual electric/gas bills. Or John Kerry raising taxes on the rich while berthing his new $7M yacht in Rhode Island to avoid paying $440,000 in sales taxes and $70,000 in excise taxes to Massachussetts. To be fair though, he paid them once he was caught. Typical liberal scum.

With that said, I'm gonna take issue with you calling out the Democrats. "What?", you say? Has Sly been brainwashed or something? Nope. It's just that I don't feel all Democrats are bad. Hell, I agree with some of the "Blue Dog" Dems more than I do some RINOs. I prefer to call out the real culprits of what is wrong with this country and they are the liberals/progressives/socialists/commies. Unfortunately, those people have taken over the majority of the Democratic Party, so the true Democrats no longer have much of a voice. Besides, I'm making great progress toward converting old-style, JFK-type Democrats to the Tea Party, and lumping them in with those libtard bastards only tends to alienate them. Just food for thought.

Call them what you want, Sly. The Gun Control crowd sits squarely to the left. Democrats, Liberals, Commies, Socialists, Fascists....whatever. I don't completely disagree with everything all Democrats have to say, but a great majority of the gun control morons are registered as Democrats. The idiot California politicians introducing this bill are Democrats. Are ALL Democrats for Gun Control? No. But they are guilty by association, at least according to me. If you want to feel differently, that's your perogative. But I can't remember the last time I heard a registered Democrat LOUDLY speak against gun control.

Howard Dean is/was pretty anti-gun control. Obviously though, as a Democrat, the gun control idiots are a vital part of your electorate. Even if are opposed to gun control, you can't too loudly state your position lest you come under opposition from your own party. Same goes for Republicans and abortion.

We could got he way of Denmark. A colleague and I were talking yesterday about guns, he's over from Denmark, I madea remark and he admitted that just recently you can't even get caught with a knife without spending time in jail. Let's say you leave your box cutters in your pocket after some drywalling. Or maybe you simply need one for your job and you are transporting it in your car for work purposes...

But lately it seems that danish authorities suffer from paranoia! Last week a young man was sentenced 7 days of prison for having two hobby knifes in his car, meant for using at his job, where he had to cut up used cardboard boxes at the petrol station where he worked every morning. 7 days of prison was bad enough for forgetting to remove the knifes, but the worst thing was, that with a sentence for offence against the law like this one, his dreams of getting a future within the police were forever gone! This is really taking the laws too serious. There were no signs of him wanting to use the knives for anything criminal, they were just discovered through a routine control of his car.

Coming to a blue state near you...

It's about control folks, nothing but control.

They want to control what you eat, what you hear on the radio, what you see on t.v., what you say, who you sleep with, and where you get your medical care.

A free people with weapons scares them to death, because you can not control a man who can kill you.

"In order to rob a strong man's house, you must first tie up the strong man."

340 million people of that roughly (guessing here) 20 million are registered gun owners. Those are the ones they are after!

A criminal is NOT BOUND by the law, and so will get and use a weapon of any choice for his trade. I need a pistol so I go to the "black market" to get said pistol. No waiting, no hassle. However, Mr. and Mrs. Law Abiding citzen must wait for perscribed days and then maybe get the weapon.

Not to mention the labeled ammunition that they were trying to talk about.

Remember Russia from the 80's folks, that's what you are looking at. Bread lines, one flavor for all no matter what it is. If you don't like it, we will be counting snowflakes in Siberia before long.

M2K, I completely understand where you're coming from by calling out the Democrats and shouldn't fault you for it. My bad. I used to do the same thing myself before my mom, of all people, enlightened me. She said that there are many Democrats who are upset by the direction of their party who would look unfavorably toward people lumping them in with the leftists that now control it. While she was more of an independent that leaned Dem (I have since converted her), many of her friends and co-workers were staunch lifelong Dems who have also questioned the Democratic leadership.

As a Tea Party activist, those are the people I'm targeting. If I vilify all Democrats, I also vilify them, so it's a losing proposition. Therefore, I must differentiate between the libtards who are destroying the country and the moderate/conservative Dems who have been betrayed by their party. I know, it's a slippery slope, but I'm having great success at it, as long as I keep it ideological instead of political party branding.
