wow...and you called cops dumb? Do you even pay attention to who you are talking to? who exactly is here that you believe to be dependant upon the system? You have one guy (who you started all this with) who is probably the most outspoken anti government enthusiast that I have ever heard of. If you still have no idea what NJ does, dont waste yer time looking thru old posts. just go to the home page and read the first thing you see. Steensn might be a californain, but he's one of the rare educated engineer types..maybe you've seen one of the MANY threads about him going to a small school you've probably never heard of. So who exactly is it that you think you are talking to. (and I dont mean that in the threatening type of "what the hell are you doing?"...i mean it more like "dude what is it you THINK is really going on here?")who exaxctly are you accusing of being a fan of the system? of being dependant on it?

What we are trying to get through to you is that damn near nothing you have spouted in this entire thread seems based in any kind of reality. Now you are talking about financially drowning the poor and assume that would fix crime?? Ok just for poops and giggles lets pretend that the impossible happened and yer little plan drove the poor straight to poverty and all the current criminals moved to the country...what about the almost poor...the middle class? With your hike in taxes on gas and property taxes they are now the absolute poor...now they are th one breaking into buisness and stealing just to keep their homes...do you just raise taxes again to drown them out? and then keep doing it un till everyones poor? hell if no one has nothing no one will kill or steal right?? UTOPIA! Or do you just admit that thats the dumbest idea ever and we all move on?

Again, speculation - I dont know who any of you are, nor do I care enough to research you - this is the Internet. You're obviously a cop who takes offense to what I said, but we've already covered that - I don't have anything against cops, but if you think cops are anywhere above the bottom of the intellectual totem pole you're living in fantasy land. Maybe I need to remind myself that I'm on an Internet message board for a blue-collar sports team based in one of the most delapetated cities in the country and not bother engaging in conversation about these things.

We aren't talking about near-future reality. Welcome to the conversation.

No.. Not talking about financially drowning the poor, talking about financially pushing the poor out of cities they can't afford to live in without government assistance. - read it again, I was talking about "cities", maybe I should have specified the required population density for the cities I was referring to. Hike in gas tax, over time, would push society towards electric cars and, in conjunction with future gas tax hikes and the eventual closures of gas stations, would finish the job. High-density cities should be the crown jewels of our society, instead, they're... Detroit.

The system you describe is impossible though. You know why there's poor people in cities? Because price drops in volume. With more residences, the pricing scales lower. If you moved all the poor out to the suburbs, then the suburbs become the cities, since you say it depends on population. Unless empty cities are your idea of the system you prefer.

The second reason why the poor are in cities and not suburbs is land. Land is where the money is and poor people can't afford land. The wealthiest workers in the cities own land and live outside the cities. Yes there's some that have condos or luxury apartments but the % of wealth is low. That welfare system makes the city possible. Its not any better in the suburbs because the housing costs more because there's less of it. I can find apartments for 1/3 of the price in NY compared to the town I live in in NJ, and I'm an hour from the city.

I'm against welfare as it is now. It was supposed to be a safety net for those that needed help. The problem is that its the democrats pet project and they have repeatedly raised that safety net so that its now easier to live on welfare then it is to work in a minimum wage job. You have that entire society of people that have zero work experience with no desire to work. And even if they want too, they can't find a job, even if there were jobs in this economy.

But even doing as you say and implementing your "simple solutions" and somehow the poor were pushed out of cities and it was all wealthy... you think that would solve crime? Are you placing the blame for crime solely on the poor? If I decided to collect welfare tomorrow, does the chance that I commit crime increase immediately?

What exactly is your theory on what is the cause of all the crime? Thats what I find incoherent. You are jumping all over the board with different ideas and solutions, but there hasn't been a single idea from you. All I've heard is handguns need to go, legalize drugs, ship out the poor, state heavy penalties and voila everything is better. There hasn't been a post that lays out the issues with a solution from you. Only placing blame on various subjects with sometimes no connection.

So lay it out. State each problem and give a solution for each.

Burden of proof is that a law banning guns will make them go away. You've already said that banning drugs just created a drug cartels and drugs are all over the place. Why is this different? Why will guns go away?

You are making contradictory statements tow support opposing views on different subjects. How do you make the leap?

Already explained this.. A few posts after that my views actually evolved past banning guns.

About a year ago I started writing a book.. Kind of like logans run, but I never got around to working on the plot because I spent so much time designing the landscape.. I noticed that the scenario I was describing wasn't too far off reality and I asked myself what I thought would need to happen for that fantasy to become reality.

One of the biggest things I concluded was that the poor would have to be forced from the cities, and the wealthy/professional/orderly would move into the cities.

As with sly earlier in this thread, I'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying - the other two guys that are on me about my posts are basically "bahhhing" at everything I say, I'm assuming just to follow suit with the flow of the thread.. Fit in, be accepted amongst their professional football Internet message board peers.

I haven't said much, beyond - supplement housing within city limits and you fill your city with trash - get the trash out of the city and it makes it more appealing for real people and commercial redevelopment - I love Detroit, I tried living there but everyone has a gun tucked in the back of their pants, can't tell who's carrying legally and who's not - homeless everywhere - some of which likely live in gov subsidized housing downtown and panhandle during the day to supplement their welfare. You walk around downtown and the buildings that aren't abandoned might as well be - most of the high-rise apartment complexes are section 8, and they wonder why they can't revive downtown - building owners have no incentive to redevelop their property because theyll make more money if the government pays people's rent for them. We were talking about gun-control for a while, I agreed that it would be nice, but it wasn't realistic, and put together a series of other societal improvements that might achieve the same result without creating a new segment of the black market, increasing burden on law enforcement.

Again, I don't really care about crime because I'm not effected by it. Would I like to see crime go down? Sure, I'd like to see society improve for everyone. I could be wrong, but the only things I said about this were legalize drugs, and push the poor out of densely populated cities. Drugs, because.. What kindof industry is illegal drug trade? 10B?, I thought I remembered seeing something about marijuana alone being 4B.. But that's 10B going into hands of people that shouldn't have it, and who likely are part of the welfare system we're all against.

Part of me just wants to let Detroit go.. Let it remain the cesspool that it's leadership over the years has turned it into, but it seems like they're trying to reform it, so I guess I support it, but if they want to make any progress, at all, they're going to have to do some very different things that are going to upset a lot of people, primarily the poor. I'm just brainstorming what those things would need to be, and those ideas, to me, would benefit society as a whole.

I'm done defending my views, it's been interesting but I've wasted a ton of time on this thread..

No, you changed the subject. You brought it back AT us, we are asking for specifics.

But I think your answer was more than telling, you want a utopian society it requires coorperation not laws. You argue for things that laws cannot fix, realize this in other area, and argue for laws to be removed so that they don't create more problems. Human nature sucks, it's a reality.

tasers in a war zone???? now i KNOW yer a little crazy!!!!

and as far as my taste in flint...already moved thank you very much, but that doesnt really matter. Flint is being used as a living breathing model for how your utopia is simply not possible.

To be honest i should not use the word utopia since in your last post you state you simply want to price the poor, decreped, and corrupt out into homlessness. but thats a WHOLE OTHER debate.

As far as you philosophy on cops being the lowest common denominator.. flat out saying they are the lowest end of the spectrum intelectually??? kinda states how you REALLY have no idea what you are talking about and you are just making crap up as you go along. I happen to know a detective who qualifies for Mensa so...so much for that theory. now I use him as an example of how wrong you are, please dont throw back that he's a rarety, cuz ANYONE qualifying to join Mensa in a rarety. the point is it doesnt take some severe lack of intelligence to decide to take a carreer path that leads to actually DOING SOMETHING to make your neighborhood a better/safer place to live. Im not a cop and I am insulted by that conclusion...you should really try and take that back as it DOES make someone look awful ignorant. (for clues as to who check yer local mirror)

I must have missed this post, no wonder you're so.. You, in this convo.

Speaking of lack of intelligence, you've actually broght the least to this conversation out of everyone - so far youve basically said, blah I live I. Flint, so this fantasy utopia isn't possible (nothing to back up statement, besides "you live in flint") - you know one cop who qualifies for mensa, therefore all cops are intelligent beings, despite the fact for every one cop you know in Mensa (or who qualifies for mensa., there's a difference, not getting into the part about Mensa being a pretentious organization that you can tell people you belong to for $75/ year) many of us know 20 cops who barely register on the scale - law enforcement is what you do when you can't do bigger things, it's between road work and the military - I'm not taking anying away from any of those, they're all required, but when you have a sub-100 iq your career options are very limited - again, not saying there's anything wrong with that, it's like physical attractiveness, either you're born with it or you're not, regardless, you have to take what you're given and run with it. Do higher-intelligence people choose that path? Of course, but your friend probably has a father who was a cop, otherwise your friend would have chosen his own path and done something with his intellect that couldn't be done equally well by someone of lesser-intelligence.

You have literally brought nothing to this conversation. Could I tell you stories about myself that contradict the things we're talking about? Sure, but this isn't about me, is is about society and our political climate - to clarify, it also means this isn't about you, the fact you live in flint, or the fact that you know one police officer who doesn't fit the stereotype being discussed.

The Internet is a crazy place.. Your opinions can reach far beyond the walls of your moms basement, but reach and absorption are two entirely different things - you don't have opinions, you have stories, about yourself - uninteresting stories that don't tie into what we're discussing, at all - you unleash personal attacks on those you disagree with as a defense mechanism because if you were to actually join the conversation you'd be even more exposed for who or what you are.

HAhahahaahaha! ok..so it's obvious you can read...but do you have a CLUE how to comprehend??

Of COurse the "stories" I've told are used to contradict what you are saying. they are called examples. see rational people use examples of whats happening top prove or disprove theories. And just like a normal rational person thats exactly what I did

As far as what I have brough to the conversation...well you seem to deflect the questyons I ask when I am calling you out on the totally rediculousness of your ideas.

I asked how you stop global manufactuerers form making guns leagally...i got nothing.

I asked what happends top the middle class when you outprice the lower class from the cities..they move to the lower class and cannot afford your tax hike and THEY become the crime. you replied with nothing.
Steensn has diectly confronted your Ideas, so has Sly, and NJ as well...each time you come up ith another outlandish idea or ignore the questions all together...
While you have added to the conversation...you has still yet to add any value. we have tried to talk like a rational human being...maybe thats where we went wrong.

but as of now Im done with this nonsense..I shouldnt hav opened this thread again cuz it hasn't (nor will it) get any better. I shouldnt doubt what I already knew....sigh.

I replied to your gun manufacturing question with a theoretical example of something we could do, then the conversation shifted away from that and into a more practical direction - keep up - regardless of how much you wish you could keep talking about that - I conceded early on that it wouldn't be possible, but it would be nice - still you didn't bring anything to the convo, just a critism of something you know nothing about.

Huh? Out pricing the lower class from the cities wouldn't effect the middle class, I'm not talking about astronomical hikes, just enough to get the trash out of the cities - if these middle class people you're talking about are effected that much by it then they're not middle class, they're lower class, pretending to be middle class.

Where haven't I directly addressed the questions posed to me? I'm sure the other people participating in this read would agree that I've made a he'll of an effort to answer whatever is sent my way - ill go as far as to say you are the only onle who feels that I'm deflecting anything - a concept you were made aware of after I rightfully accused you of doing it (you're doing it right now, again)

Your username says it all - regularjoe, there are some things you aren't capable of understanding because you haven't had appropriate exposure to the thing swe're discussing - again, there is nothing wrong wih that, do your thing, but leave this stuff to people who understand it and go along wi the decisions we make for you - that sounds really elitist, but it's not intended to be that way - some people are good at some things, other people are good at others - stick to yours, we'll stick to ours.

The only difference between them and I is, I have the lack off class to call it what it is instead of beating around the bush to spare feelings. THATS why I call myself regularjoe.

And just to be perfectly clear about something..the day I let let Dungeons and dragons playing, no friends having, sci fi fantasy living, still living at moms house, basement dwelling dungeon B$%#hes like you decide my fate is the day I show you how big of a fan I am of my right to bear arms! lol

So you're going to shoot me now? Something tells me I'd have two in your face before you figure out how to take your safety off. You know everything about me huh? You just deflected everything I think you are back at me.. Weird, that's what you've been doing this whole fudge time.

If you want to be immature, let's do it - list everything about yourself, I'll list everything about myself and we'll see who's "better" - do I care about you, at all? No, but you obviously care a hell of a lot about me so let's teach you about Internet anonymity.
