 Who Is John Galt?
I understand that the vast majority of idiot Americans have no clue who John Galt is, but that won't lessen his impact

 Re: Who Is John Galt?
At Rand? Yes. A pretty vacuous set of beliefs, IMO. And it doesn't play well for the Republicans, either. The religious right is not a fan of the atheistic philosophies of Rand. That's why Paul Ryan had to distance himself from it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... and-romney

As much as I dislike Rand, the Republican party leaving the grip of the religious right (and in particular the cadre of guys obsessed with rape - I mean, wtf is it with them?) would be a massive plus IMO.

I have to agree with UK there....what the heck was with the 5-6 guys who just could NOT avoid the word rape. Not a good political move IMO...for EVERYONE in the party.

 Re: Who Is John Galt?
For those that don't already know, I am an atheist. While I side with the christians on most social issues, I am not one of them.
With that said, Ayn's atheism had little to no impact on my curernt beliefs. 8 years in the Arrny dealing with DOA and DOD civilian unionized employees on a dailly basis did it for me. They are scum and anyone stating otherwise is lying.
As a result of my life experiences, I AM John Galt.

 Re: Who Is John Galt?
Quote: Obama: Ayn Rand for 'misunderstood' teens
Comments (404) By BYRON TAU | 10/25/12 5:25 PM EDT President Obama took aim at one of Rep. Paul Ryan's favorite writers, the libertarian icon Ayn Rand.
Asked by Rolling Stone if he's ever read Rand, Obama said "sure."
"Ayn Rand is one of those things that a lot of us, when we were 17 or 18 and feeling misunderstood, we'd pick up," Obama said. "Then, as we get older, we realize that a world in which we're only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else, in which we're considering the entire project of developing ourselves as more important than our relationships to other people and making sure that everybody else has opportunity – that that's a pretty narrow vision."
"It's not one that, I think, describes what's best in America," Obama said about Rand's vision. "Unfortunately, it does seem as if sometimes that vision of a 'you're on your own' society has consumed a big chunk of the Republican Party."
Ryan has described Rand's work "Atlas Shrugged" as one of his favorite works.
"There is no better place to find the moral case for capitalism and individualism," Ryan said in 2005.
