Post Ebola Scare
Well Thomas Duncan, who I will refer to as "Patient Zero", died earlier today. He was in a hospital exactly 1 mile from my office and his apartments are 2.1 miles from my office.

My wife was driving to the grocery store and at a CareNow clinic by our house (Frisco, TX) and right next door to my neighbors restaurant there is a ton of cops, news orgs, etc - looks to be another potential Ebola case.

Scary stuff!

Not a big deal unless it goes airborne.

Then it could be cataclysmic.

But don't worry, because evolution isn't real.

The whole airborne thing would make it much deadlier, but when you have a virus that can survive 30 - 60 minutes on a surface, it has the potential to be very spreadable. Especially when the incubation period can be anywhere between 2 and 21 days.

You're not infectious until you develop symptoms, so the incubation period is not really relevant.

Ebola is difficult to spread in a country with decent hygiene.

2nd Dallas nurse in a couple of days diagnosed (from what I've heard locally, I expect more). This one flew back to Dallas from Cleveland the day before her diagnosis (she may have had low grade fever on the flight) - 132 passengers now being asked to contact CDC and be monitored.

One of the kids who plays for my soccer team is a nurse her in Dallas (different hospital) - she said 30 nurses have walked off their jobs the last two weeks at her hospital alone. Look at what is happening with the stock market today if you don't think this is a little scary.

Been following this pretty close since it is so close to home for me. Both the CDC and local hospital have screwed the pooch on this one, lets hope it is well contained because humans are stupid (like the nurse traveling on a plane after the other one was just diagnosed) and will spread this thing.

Exactly. Peeps need to calm down, but stay prepared and alert.
