I’m no business man, but the return on that investment would be atrocious. That’s a 1/4 billion dollar investment...on a 1/2 billion dollar asset, for what amounts to purely a commodity.

I’d guess there’s a 0.0001% chance of this ever happening.

Agreed - terrible idea. If it was built into the design before construction then perhaps but not at this point.

I think this will happen. Just a couple years ago, there was an article about how Martha Ford and Rod ( brain farting on his last name right now, the team President.), were having a conversation about how playing indoors makes the team soft. I suspected right away that they were laying plans to redo the roof. I just didn’t mention it here because it was nothing more than a hunch.

But they won't open the retractable roof during bad weather - ie) just about for every football game. They have a retractable roof here at Jerry World in Dallas and they hardly ever open it - even in good weather. I've yet to see a game with the roof open here and I've been to a number of games when the weather was good.

Ford Field is 16 years old. They're going to need a new stadium in 5-10 years. Just wait and build it with the next one.

pretty sure it should last 50 years or more the way they built it and where they built it. agree that the retractable roof is a terrible idea unless they actually land an MLS team. If its for american football only it wont happen

If they are building it for saving money, then it is not saving but wasting.
