Post NFL Rules
No doubt NFL rulings deal with fair play basics.

My Off Topic question is for anyone who can give me an accurate answer.
This is specifically aimed at Team Ownership.
>>>> If a team such as the Lions are NOT COMPETITIVE year after year....
can the people of Michigan petition the NFL to wrestle ownership into the
hands of hard core Lion fans ?

My guess is ; Team Ownership is a " lock " in favor of whoever is in
possesion.

This unforgivable string of losing teams must come to an end ! Sooner the
better.

Whatever the case, a heavy dose of national exposure on the issue would
do wonders
if folks just get serious about such a move.
Team charter would stipulate ' keeping the team in Detroit ' for starters.

Like to hear your ideas on thisun .
Crazy ? Maybe, but I'm tired of watching wasted talent on a perrenial
loser.

The NFL can not take ownership away under any circumstances. Just as If you bought stock in Ford Mo. Co. no one can take it away from you.

However there are provisions written into the by laws where there are 'sanctions' - financial and otherwise - that can be levied on a team that is consistently uncompetitive. Examples might be things like no Super Bowls in the home city and no nationally televised games, etc. There may be even harsher penalties but I'm not sure any of these have ever been used on any team.

Furthermore, the NFL views a lack of attempt to fix a dysfunctional franchise more egregious than a franchise's poor record. The Ford's have attempted to fix the Lions. (New GM's and 2 coaches and coaching staffs also the building of Ford Field itself).

My point is that while we as fans are not happy with the Lions record - The NFL as a body is light years away from placing any penalty on the organization. Taking away ownership is not an option.

Appreciate that answer LionFan57. Can't say I didn't expect it <ans>
Guys like Daniel M. Snyder, Redskins, and Jerry Jones, Dallas obviously
make a big deal about GETTING GREAT COACHES because they are
DEAD SERIOUS about WINNING AND THE SUPER BOWL.
Were it not a fact that EVERYONE ELSE AROUND THE LEAGUE,
essentially, has " Been there, done that ", none of us would be so damn
mean spirited (against Ford).
Speaking of spirit.... players on other teams are exuberant when taking
the field .... they also encourage fans for noise etc. You see little of that
in Detroit < well, I see too little of all Lions games >
Funny you should mention buying Ford stock..... I have and started
buying Ford vehicles..... '' BELIEVING IT MIGHT MAKE A DIFFERENCE ".
Optimism works for an individual ..... it will get you further if you believe
in yourself..... but it has the same results every year no matter how
optimistic or pessimistic you are.
Far as ->" no nationally televised games " that is a GIVEN.
Confident you'd say """
The NFL as a body is light years away from placing any penalty on the organization. Taking away ownership is not an option. """
Being the proverbial "squeeky wheel " doesn't work either.
HOW LONG WILL THE VIKES KEEP WINNING AGAINS THE LIONS ?
Invariably the lowly Vikes will even knock us off. Did we get lucky or
play well against the PACK ?
And the Bears look THAT GOOD .... took 20 years but they are back
kicking badonkadonk and taking names.
MORE FANS SHOULD BE WEARING BAGS .... Love it !
reminicent of Aints and Yets fans
GO LIONS
