That has got to be the funniest thing I've read all day.

BTW, it's almost 6-7-06 now and nothing has happened that I know of.

Just for your entertainment and ejubicashun, some (many?) Christians don't have any heebie-jeebies about the number at all. There are lots of different exigetical takes on John's Revelation, and some of them use a less specific flavor of numerology. For example, the number 7 is frequently used in the Bible to denote perfection or completeness. Hence, the number 6 could merely represent that which is imperfect/incomplete, and thus 666 could be representative of a person or attitude that is unwholesome and impure in every imaginable way.

In fact, I've only ever really encountered specific postulation when discussing eschatological matters with believers holding dispensational backgrounds.

I wasn't ripping on anyone, se?or. I have some very very close friends who adhere to a dispensationalist hermaneutic. So chill, foo', y'dig? Besides, I ain't no preterist, I'm an amillenialist.

Golly, folks on this board take everything so personally -- everybody's got their back up about somethin'. Can't a guy just offer information or a perspective without being percieved as attacking somebody? Sheesh!
