If you take every RB on our roster, and compressed them into 1 RB, you would get Hunt.

He is a big back and can run between the tackles. He also has the speed to run around the end. He also can catch passes out of the backfield. And he is a capable pass blocker.

And here is what I like best about him:

In over 4,000 yards in High School, he had 1 fumble. He fumbled forward and his center recovered it for a TD.
In over 4,000 yards in College, he had 1 fumble. He fumbled out of bounds and recovered it himself.
He has never fumbled the ball to the other team!!!

If this guy went to a Big 10, SEC, ACC, PAC12, etc. he would be considered just as elite as any of the top 3 RB's.

And he proved he can play in the Senior Bowl.

I like Hunt to a degree and see him as a someone who can carry the rock a lot but not someone NFL teams have to game plan around. I'm not sure if he turns out like former Lions RB Kevin Smith who put up impressive number at Central Florida (also over 4,000 yards but did it in just 3 seasons) and caught a more passes as well. Both lack that burst that top end backs have. Hunt has had some ankle (and hamstring) issues and missed other games due to violating team rules. Smith was a serviceable back in the NFL who was taken in the 3rd round, about where I have Hunt graded.

Hunt has a different build than Smith being shorter and stockier, more muscular in general. I haven't really watched any Toledo games that I can recall so I've only really seen him in the Senior Bowl where he had that one big run of 40+ yards which really padded his stats but he looked like he has good vision and is fairly patient in the hole to me.

IMO Hunt will be a better version of Joique Bell and an average level starter. That's not bad for a 3rd round pick, but this draft has enough talent that I think there should be players at more needy positions with more upside available.

I like Hunt, but with the depth of backs in this draft, why draft one that early?

It's May 19th now. Is it still too early to draft a RB?

With what I am seeing in the Patriots game, the Lions will be 5-11 at best!!!

We've got a rough first 6 games.

Get through them 3-3 somehow, and I could see this team having a shot at the playoffs.

Get through them 0-6, and I could see this team quitting on the season and picking in the top 3 of the 2018 draft.

That's the fun of the NFL!

Very happy that the season is starting up again. But for the Lions, I don't see this being an up year. OL, RB, and DL are all suspect, and LB is average at best. Not going to be world beaters, and not sure we can compete for a Playoff spot this year.

This early schedule is as brutal as the NFL could make it. I swear that every year their main focus in making the schedule is to find the absolute worst schedule they can for the Lions. This is just insanely brutal. Not 1 single back to back home games. But, we have a back to back road trip. And if we don't win the 1st game, we will likely start out 0-8.

Sun. Sept. 10, Arizona, 1 p.m. (FOX) W If for no other reason than it is a home game. And it is a MUST WIN!

Mon. Sept. 18, at N.Y. Giants, 8:30 p.m. (ESPN) L Our track record on the road against good teams is not good.

Sun. Sept. 24, Atlanta, 1 p.m. (FOX) L Atlanta is on a mission to prove they should have been the champs.

Sun. Oct. 1, at Minnesota, 1 p.m. (FOX) L Only because it is in Minny.

Sun. Oct. 8, Carolina, 1 p.m. (FOX) L They are going to stretch our defense so bad that this is going to be an ugly game.

Sun. Oct. 15, at New Orleans, 1 p.m. (FOX) L Road game. And the Saints have a much improved Defense this year.

Sun. Oct. 29, Pittsburgh, 8:30 p.m. (NBC) L I think we have a chance here. We make it close, but, lose on a late FG.

Mon. Nov. 6, at Green Bay, 8:30 p.m. (ESPN) L It's at Laimo Field.

Sun. Nov. 12, Cleveland, 1 p.m. (CBS) W Finally a soft spot spot in the schedule.

Sun. Nov. 19, at Chicago, 1 p.m. (FOX) W The only thing keeping us out of the basement of the NFC North this year is the Bears.

Thur. Nov. 23, Minnesota, 12:30 p.m. (FOX) W We finally have our legs underneath us after staggering out of the gate.

Sun. Dec. 3, at Baltimore, 1 p.m. (FOX) W The Ravens have been basically a .500 team since their last Super Bowl win.

Sun. Dec. 10, at Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. (FOX) L If this was in Detroit, but, it's not.

Sat. Dec. 16, Chicago, 4:30 p.m. (NFL) W As bad as our season is, it's worse for the Bears.

Sun. Dec. 24, at Cincinnati, 1 p.m. (FOX) L Our season is over at this point. The Bengals are in a playoffs push.

Sun. Dec 31, Green Bay, 1 p.m. (FOX) L The FARGING Packers come in and stick the dagger in us.

6-10. And that is as optimistic as I can muster for this season. Hello top 10 draft pick.

Well. Maybe next time. At least we have a nice project at WR. That's far more critical.

Just another player that I am always going to be pissed that we did not draft, when I knew damn well that we should have.

Well at least the project WR got 2 TD's in his first game... Let's see how the season goes for both before throwing hands up in the air on unproven rookies.
