Post A simple hello.
Hey folks. Just found your place today. An acquaintance of mine notified me of the "Detroit Top Sites" page and I saw you guys listed at the top. Impressive. Is this a new place??? I've never heard even a whisper about it until today. I have noticed a member at several other Detroit Lions forums by the name of Lionbacker. Is he the Administrator here???

A little about me. I'm a contraversial person. I was a member at TLF since it's creation and until just recently. I also frequent a few other forums, but none of them listed on the "top sites" page. I like the variety, but none of them offer exactly what I'd like, so I created my own fan forum. It's humble, but I intend to grow as my membership grows.

Anyway, I wanted to check this place out and, although I haven't seen it all yet, it seems like a decent place.

I do want to ask about the rules. They seem simple enough. However, if someone could clarify what excessive profanity is and what "nasty" nude pictures are, I'd appreciate it.

If this place is open to diverse personalities, I think I'll be able to add some colorful conversation. However, if I wind up being a bit too much for your preference, I'd appreciate honest and tactful communication before passing judgment. I've learned from my time at TLF that it's better to walk away when you're not wanted. Even if they're wrong, you're outnumbered.

I look forward to conversing here and making my personality a part of this forum community. Hopefully I'll be accepted.

Also, moderators......if this post is in the wrong place, I won't mind it's re-direction. I made a quick browse to see if any similar threads existed and found none. Just figured an introduction was appropriate.

Thanx......Sanders97

First off, hello and welcome, I cant exactly speak for the forum being a relatively new member myself but I look forward to some contreversy and a little spice in the discussions. I hope you continue to post here as I am curious to know what a contraversial person has to say about our lions(besides Harrington sucks, we have all heard that to many times to count.)

As for the language and pics, just use common sense, so far this board has struck me as relatively laid back and the administrators seem like they have a sense of humor but if your about to post something that you wonder if it will offend someone than I suggest you use discretion and not post it. I havent really seen anything online that has actually offended me but some people arent jerks like I am and have different moral values so in consideration to the other folks that use this board I try to limit my language.

Thanx for replying. New or not.

I tend to swear occasionally. I am perfectly capable of speaking without it, of course, but sometimes it adds emotion and strength to a comment. I don't think I've ever been excessive in my vulgarity. Even on my own forum where the rules are real loose.

As for the pictures, I'm just wondering if there's a difference between "nasty" pictures and a quality and classy, Playboy type nude photo. The female body is one of God's greatest creations. I agree that I don't need to see a spread or any action shots, but admiring beauty is a grand experience. Some women are sexy when clothed, but some are just exquisite when not.

Sanders97,

Welcome to Lionbacker, we are glad you found us. There aren't a lot of rules on the forum, but a lot of members check in during work hours so keep that in mind. Nude photos would not be appropriate. Imagine a coworker walking into your cube as you open a page and UhOh!

As far as your opinion goes, shoot away. We simply try to be respectful in our responses. There is no one set of opinions on the board, that's even true among the writers for the site. Diversity is welcomed. Especially if one can back up his/her point.

The site was launced last August, traffic really started flying in January so the word is out. The site is growing like crazy. We had over a million hits in January and by March we had almost four times that amount during the month.

I post occasionally on other boards under the name Lionbacker. Your forum name rings a bell. You will find a lot of passionate, knowledgeable and respectful members in this forum. No trolls and no nine year olds (unless they have me fooled).

Again, welcome to the LB Forum!
Paul (aka Pablo)

Pablo.....thanx for the response. I understand the nudity thing. Can't say that I agree, but I understand. I'd simply tell them to knock on my cube before entering if they're afraid of what they might see. LOL.

Anyway, just checked my member list and you're not registered there. At least not as Lionbacker. I think I've seen you at either (or all) The Underground, The RedZone, and/or TLF. Those are the three I've visited most. Always looking for good places to visit though.

BTW.....how did you come up with "Pablo" for a screen name??? Ever since Sr. called Tagliaboob "Pablo", that's been my name for him as well. LOL.

Anyway, thanx for the welcome and for clarifying the specifics. Conversation is kinda dull everywhere right now, but it'll be picking up in a week or so. I'll look forward to chatting with y'all.

Welcome, welcome, welcome,
The gentleman to ask about in regards to your questions is Pablo. He is the mind behind Lionbacker and is the one to approve anything. I am in unison with you in saying that a nude body is not pornographic, since all bodies are nude, most just have clothes over the top of them. But it's not my call. As for vulgarity, nothing too over the top and I don't think anyone will get all flustered. One thing that doesn't happen here too often is an all out war of words. People on this site have different opinions regarding a myriad of topics above and beyond the Lions, but everyone respects each others opinions, even if we disagree with them. That's all I have for now. Hope you enjoy our articles. I welcome feedback on anything I write, so don't be shy.

Hi Sanders,

I know about you prolific production from TLF, although I am not up on your falling out there.

You do bring up an interesting point. The tenor here is very healthy. I am too new myself to know the secret other than I suspect it lays in a quorom of honest curiosity concerning the Lions above and beyond anything else. Hopefully, a dimunition in that climate is not something we will have to deal with, but speaking from past experience I guess that it is an issue we will have to pay attention to. This of course is not in any way addressing you personally, but rather expanding upon a point you made.

 Funny! I think a woman's body is a work of art as well but there are a lot of sites out there for that - no matter what one's taste are.

I was at TLF under another forum name a while back, I didn't like some of the antics there and stopped posting. I am under Lionbacker on both The Underground and the DuMB board. Don't post there much anymore either.

Long story - short version. Pablo is Spanish for Paul (my name). Even though I was born in England (moved to the states when I was very young), I have pretty tanned skin for a Euro. I've always liked hispanic things, speaking of beautiful women, and liked to speak a bit of Spanish. I travel to Mexico, the Carribean and Latin America every chance I get (Scuba freak). My wife is one of those beautiful hispanic women also. Many friends call me Pablo.

During the 2003 season I started sending a Lions Newsletter to friends and used that nickname a lot. Pablo's Top Ten, things like that. After starting LB, I thought I would stick with it on the forum for sentimental purposes I guess.

It's OK that I'm a 12 year old troglodyte though, right?

LMAO....That's cool Pablo. Just thought it might be something to do with Tagliaboob. I can only figure Ford Sr. called him that in reference to Picasso and his distorted view of events surrounding the reason he called him that name.

Just thought it was funny.

Yoric, I've seen you around as well. No need to get into what happened with TLF. There's still some bad feelings there for me and I'd only drag down the morale here by explaining. I'll just say this. If you are familiar with me, you can imagine how things I say can get taken the wrong way. I tried to make good, but it was a no go. End of story.

Anyway, to all else, thanx for the welcome. I can't wait for something to start rolling so I can dive in head first.

I think we've all had our share of "bad forum experiences"

I used to visit the About Football Forum... but it turned into the 500 word "take up your entire page" signature place for 12 year olds to talk football... was a shame. Never visit there again, but I met some good people there (m2karateman, 2005lion, Pablo, loyallion23, etc...)

Seems like the rational posters have migrated here...

I second that brother. Amen.

You hit the nail on the head. I do not know anything about about.com, but about a year ago the DLMB blew up (again) sparking quite a few splinter cells and refugees. I always hoped there would be a way to reunite the community of straight thinkers somewhere but the funny thing was there was all this very bizarre board politics. Perhaps when you try to oppose the flaws of something else you just end up perpetuating them in a Hegelian way. . .

Welcome, Sanders97. I'm not a very active member of this forum (i. e. I read almost everything, but I don't post too often as English is not my first language), but I think it is really a great place for everyone interested in the Lions and the NFL. I also like the respect and tolerance everybody shows towards different opinions in all subjects.
