Not sure on the details. Just know he's signed.

This is great - another 5'10" CB. The only one who isn't is Keith Smith, he's 5'11".

Our secondary looks like the munchkin's from the Wizard of Oz.

Just remember that Kieth Smith was listed as 6'1" in college. So the corners in this draft listed at 6' or more by their colleges aren't really that tall. Even the measurements taken at the combine and pro days vary team to team.

I wouldn't be too concerned with actual height, but rather 'playing height'. Most corners have tremendous leaping ability and play much taller as a result.

M2K,

I took the 5'11" from the Lions website. I checked to make sure before I posted that.

But as for your other comment:

Please don't forget that 6' plus WR's have that same leaping ability.

Or those Mofos like Plax who are 6-5! DBs would need to have an out of this world vertical to leap up and take a ball from Plax or Moss.

I understand where you're coming from Lionfan57 and I'm not a fan of small CBs. However, too much emphasis is placed on height IMO. If the CB is that good, he'll find a way to make up for it, usually with speed and hands...or nice jamming technique.

Conversion,

I don't disagree at all; look at Dre Bly. (Leo is right he's 5'9"). And Bly makes up for it.

But wouldn't it be nice to not stack the odds against us like that?

Oh, I would love to have a CB who has 4.35 - 4.4 speed and is 6-2...but they're rare. Actually, I don't even know what CBs are around that height. Would be nice against those possible Matt Jones type match ups. 6-6 is just rediculous for a WR.

 With more and more 6'5"+ receivers in or entering the NFL, height does start to become an issue. To compensate, I think you will start to see taller CBs being developed at the college level, eventually making their way to Sundays. Speed, good hands and timing can help overcome the height issue though.

2 years ago the Lions picked up Jacoby Shephard as a CB who was like 6'3 or something...the guy sucked. How you play is a lot more important than if you are taller than the next guy in line... Goodman cant play, thats why we should care, not bc he is 5'10 like 90% of CBs in the NFL...

I object. Goodman is a vaulable depth guy. He has had injury problems, but it is a good signing. Now on to Eddie Drummond. I won't feel safe until he is signed.

In a chat with Drummond on ESPN, he sounded quite sure about being a Lion next year and sounded really excited. Granted, that could all be a ploy to entertain Lions fans, but he still sounded excited.

Also, yesterday 4/15 was the last day for teams to make offers to their RFAs. More than likely just waiting for him to mull it over and sign it.
