James Davis played the weak side last year lordy not the strong side. He is a good prospect and played much better than he did as a rookie. He was an upgrade over Barret Green who played there before. I am pretty sure his spot on the team is secure and he has a chance to start even with the return of Boss Bailey.

Depends on whether or not Leham goes inside.

I'm sorry, I was looking for a thread about our Offensive line and the signing of Kyle Kosier.

Also, Victor Rogers signed yesterday. So what do you think our O-line depth chart will look like?

LT - Jeff Backus, Matt Joyce
LG - Rick DeMulling, David Loverne
C - Dominic Raiola
RG - Damien Woody, Tyrone Hopson
RT - Kelly Butler, Kyle Kosier, Victor Rogers

I think Loverne or Hopson will get cut...or they may keep everyone since Kosier is on a 1 year deal.

Typically the makeup of the Lions roster goes something like this:

QB-3
RB-3
FB-2
WR-6
TE-3
OT-4
OG-4
C-1
DT-4
DE-5
MLB-2
OLB-5
CB-5
SS-2
FS-2
K-1
P-1

This is the 53 player roster makeup. Given this information, I feel Hopson will likely be cut and the offensive line will look like this:

LT-Backus, Rogers
LG-Demulling, Loverne
C-Raiola
RG-Woody, Joyce
RT-Butler, Kosier

Can Rogers step in and play LT? I didn't know if he had the ability to be a LT, I thought he was more of a RT guy.

Victor Rogers was actually the LOT backup the past two years. Matt Joyce was the backup at ROT and LOG. When Loverne was put on the bench it was Joyce who filled in as the starter last year. With Kosier and Joyce being able to play guard or tackle, and Woody and Demulling being capable of playing center, the Lions have a very versatile roster of offensive linemen. Rogers is probably better off as a ROT since he is not an ideal pass blocker, but he has spent some time at the left side tackle spot in practice and pre-season.

Matt Joyce was both versatile and decent. I can't believe they cut him but brought Victor Rogers back. That makes no sense to me other than salary cap implications.

Maybe they see more potential in Rogers than Joyce?

Rogers certainly has MAJOR potential at Tackle, but Joyce is far better at Tackle and Guard than David F___ing Loverne.

The release of Joyce is a tough one for this Lions fan to stomache.

Losing THE best backup player for our o-line at both tackle and guard for the last 3 years is a move that had BETTER work out.
