Post How the Lions will use Goddard
Lions | Goddard to be Used in a Variety of Ways
Tue, 26 Apr 2005 20:19:43 -0700

Jay Clemons, of DetroitLions.com, reports Detroit Lions DE Jonathan Goddard, a 2005 sixth-round draft pick, will play as an edge pass rusher as well as a standup linebacker in the Lions' base 4-3 defense this season, according to team president Matt Millen.

Kind of surprising that they'll say how they'll use him when he may not make the team.

Also, this is sad news, I would have liked to have picked him up to backup Raiola.

Also, Body would have been a good pickup at S.

I cant see Goddard every being useful at OLB, unless its a Goal line Defense  even then you dont want him covering anybody.

I think he might be utilized in the DE rotation if someone gets injured other wise I can only really see him being a Special Teams Gunner.. He is fast for his size qleft1.gif

Sounds like they would use them as they might have Pollack. Also, it seems there may be 3-4, zone blitz elements introduced in the defense. Goddards' position would be subject to change at the line of scrimmage?
