Post WHICH LION WOULD YOU TAKE??????
you are a g.m. and you have to pick only "1" detroit lion.

WHO WOULD IT BE?

particulars:

you are starting a franchise from scratch and have no players and need all positions filled.

do not be concerned with what you could get from other franchises, just concentrate on the lions.

i thought of a couple players but in the long run i had to select:

SHAUN ROGERS

he has single handedly anchored the d-line to reek fear in opposing qb's.
he also provides defensive ends the ability of single coverage and by the push of shaun rogers he presents opportunitees for sacks that normally would not be there (james hall agrees).
the ability to acquire an elite rb is easier then acquiring an elite dt.
in the draft seattle (shaun alexander) and indy (edgerrin james) couldn't trade their pro-bowl backs for even a second round pick - ludicrous.
shaun rogers can directly and indirectly disrupt the flow of an offense.
this being said i could easily find several reasons to keep my next pick:

kevin jones was a serious thought also and can be legitimitely argumented to be the choice.

that's my 2 cents, what's your's?

I think the guy has a lot more potential than most give him credit for. I personally think he'll develope into a solid starting QB. Matt Hasselbeck isn't great, he just has a good set of players around him. If Orlovsky can be taught to be more mobile, which I think he can, and get his accuracy down, he'll be a good QB in the future.

I also have to go with Shaun Rogers. That would be a great start.

I am also really excited about what Shaun Cody can do for the Lions, I think he is going to be awesome. qtank.gif

i love the draft selection of shaun cody.

the only thing i hate was surrundering a 4th but he was going to tennessee if we didn't trade up anyways. the price you pay i guess.

lions have great potential, let's hope it turns into success.

 I would have to go with Shaun Rogers as well. In the future that could change, but for now, he's the man.

Roy Williams. Is that a serious question? Seriously, I think he is the best bet for HOF.

Tough call - Shaun Rogers is a good choice, but I'd go with Roy Williams.

Shaun Rogers has yet to make what I would consider a game breaking play. Of course, that is far easier from WR than DT. I guess a sack by Hall is in a way his sack, or you could give him an assist. I do not think that Rogers has peaked yet. If he plays even better I could change my wind. But I see RW mastering the mental side of the game, a la Michael Jordan. THat is what makes me a big fan of him. Unfortunately he plays a position predicated on the performance of others. Still, the sky is the limit for him. I think he could break the back of the best corners in the league. Remember how in Philly no one could cover him?

what?

does a blocked field goal and a fumble recovery that led to 10 points in a 4 point win against chicago bears last year (1st game) deem as game-breaking to you - it certainly does to me.

As of right now it's Shaun Rogers but Roy Williams or Kevin Jones could turn into that kind of player if they can stay healthy.

Shaun "Big Baby" Rogers
Kevin "KJ" Jones
Roy "The Legend" Williams

Do we have any other players deserving nicknames? We got Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson... Joey "Ballgame" Harrington (LOL)... Charles "Chuck" Rogers (is that a nickname?)

Oh... I forgot David "Circus" Kircus... new_rofl.gif
