Fernando? You mean alphonso smith? He's healthy, but hasn't gotten up to speed to beat out McDonald. He was dressed and on the sideline last week.
Fairely practiced for 3rd straight day and took part in position drills. Jason Fox returned to practice also.

This could be the healthiest I've ever seen them at this point in the season: Mlive wrote: Detroit Lions in good shape heading into Monday Night Football game against Chicago Bears Published: Saturday, October 08, 2011, 11:43 AM Updated: Saturday, October 08, 2011, 12:00 PM By Philip Zaroo
ALLEN PARK — A healthy Detroit Lions team took the field for a rare Saturday morning practice, as the team prepares for its Monday Night Football appearance against the Chicago Bears.
Only safety Erik Coleman, who injured his ankle against Dallas last week, and wide receiver Rashied Davis (foot) were sidelined. Davis was walking without his protective boot on Thursday.
Rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley remained spirited while he participated in a third straight practice after missing the Lions' season since breaking his foot in early training camp.
Second-year offensive tackle Jason Fox, who also suffered a foot injury in early August and got back to the practice field this week, was set to work out with the team on Saturday.
Others listed as limited practice participants on Friday's injury report were: linebacker Justin Durant (concussion), cornerback Aaron Berry (groin), defensive end Lawrence Jackson and safeties Louis Delmas (abdomen) and Amari Spievey (hamstring).
The Lions announced one roster move: offensive lineman Jacques McClendon was re-signed and will be on the team's practice squad, while wide receiver Owen Spencer was cut to make room for him.

It helps when there's actually something to play for....

Well, seeing as he waltzed in here last year and started picking off passes like nobody else was, I'd say he's earned the right via past performance to get his shot to play a few snaps. Aaron Berry has been OK, but he certainly hasn't been that impressive.

ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions continue to deal with just a few injuries heading into their Week 6 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Only three players, linebacker Justin Durant (concussion), tight end Tony Scheffler (concussion) and safety Vincent Fuller (elbow) were not on the practice field Thursday morning during the limited portion the media is allowed to view.
Returning to practice for the first time since Sept. 23 was wide receiver and special teamer Rashied Davis. Cornerback Aaron Berry (groin), who sat out yesterday's practice, was also back on the field.
The only other player who sat out Wednesday's practice, safety Erik Coleman, was placed on injured reserve by the team Thursday morning. To fill the roster hole, the Lions re-signed tight end Joe Jon Finley.
It is likely several players on the field this morning will be limited participants. Those announcements will be made when the team releases its injury report between 4-5 p.m.
I'm glad that only three players missed practice today, but I hope Durant and Scheffler aren't gone for long.

I'm glad that only three players missed practice today, but I hope Durant and Scheffler aren't gone for long. Durant might be able to play. He's supposed to be seeing a specialist. My understanding is that he was suffering from a headache on Monday, and the Lions didn't want to risk it. If he sees the doctor and he gets clearance, I think they may play him. If nothing else, they may platoon him with Carpenter. From what I've heard Scheffler likely won't play, since his injury is more recent and he is supposedly still suffering from some side effects. He'd create some serious match up issues with the SF defense too. It's a shame, but that's football.

 Re: 2011 Injury Thread
I believe when they signed on JJ Finley when they put Coleman on IR was a sign that Scheffler could miss some time. Hopefully not too much time. What is Scheffler's injury anyways?
