 Practice Squad 2011 now complete
WR Nate Hughes TE Cornelius Ingram C/G Dan Gerberry OT Casey Bender DE Kyle Moore DT Corvey Irvin S Ricardo Silva CB Donovan Warren
Warren, UFA from Michigan last year after leaving school a year early, was the last one added after being cut by the Steelers. Irvin was a 3rd round pick by Carolina a few years back.

I liked Warren @ U of M and felt he had a real chance at being a player but then left school too early. He wasn't ready. Hopefully he can continue to grow on the PS.

At one time Cornelius Ingram was thought of as a top level collegiate tight end. Then he blew out his knee and has been on the recovery road since. If Ingram can return to his collegiate form, he would make a very intriguing H-back prospect for this team. I like the Donovan Warren signing as well. I know many thought he would be a second or third round pick, but after watching him perform at the Combines I could see he was struggling in some areas, and felt he was about a sixth round talent. He should have stayed in school, but wanted out when Rich Rodriguez took over (can't say I blame him). He could still become a decent backup.

Not even a mild fan of Ingram. Never was.
Wasn't a huge fan of Warren coming out, but he is definitely worth a PS spot IMO.

Re: Practice Squad 2011 now complete
I understand the positional flexibility of some TEs, but I would have liked to have seen a pure FB on the practice squad. It would have helped when preparing for teams that use a two back set and the Lions, at some point, might decide to use that formation more if their running game stalls. If that happens, the PS FB would already know the playbook and could step right in.

I'm with Sly, I know the FB SEEMS to be dying out, but I still like them. They open holes IMO and are versitile. A good fullback can provide consistency to a RBC system.

Re: Practice Squad 2011 now complete
The thing is, Linehan has stated that his system favors a receiving FB, not the traditional blocking FB that many (including my self) prefer. In that light, Heller is as good as any FB we could stash on the PS. He already knows the playbook, and stands to be on the 45 man most, if not all games.

Silva was excellent in the pre-season. I honestly believe he was better than some players we kept on the roster. It is not so much "pulling for him" as it is being realistic. The guy was good, hope we don't lose him.

What happened to Walter McFadden. I thought he was supposed to be on the PS?
