And you only have to look at the QB controversies of the past to know it predates Lionbacker!

Silva was excellent in the pre-season. I honestly believe he was better than some players we kept on the roster. It is not so much "pulling for him" as it is being realistic. The guy was good, hope we don't lose him. I agree. It's sad. But, I am actually kind of hoping that if we are going to have 1 of our Safeties go on IR, I hope it happens in the early weeks of the season so we can bring him off the PS before someone else snatches him up.

Ok, Billy--now you're taking it to a whole new level. Hoping one of starters goes on IR so we can activate Silva? That's just crazy talk.

Do not put words in my mouth. I said, that if we are going to have a Safety go on IR this year, I hope it happens in the first few weeks. That does not in any way say that I want one of our safeties to go on IR. Next time, take the time to understand common English before you post.

I thought he was pretty clear that he didn't hope for it to happen. Only that if it is going to happen, it happens early so as to not lose the highly talented player. I don't feel that is in any way out of bounds or implies any more than he said. I suppose it might to someone searching for something that is not there though.....

ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions announced a couple of practice squad moves Tuesday evening.
The team signed cornerback Don Carey and re-signed tight end Nathan Overbay to the practice squad.
Carey, a 5-foot-11, 192-pound native of Grand Rapids was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL draft (177th overall) by the Cleveland Browns, but was waived early in training camp due to a shoulder injury.
He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he started 10 of the 15 games he played in, collecting 55 tackles and one interception. The Jaguars waived Carey before the start of this season.
To make room for Carey and Overbay, the Lions released running back Matt Clapp and tight end Joe Jon Finley from the practice squad.

Re: Practice Squad 2011 now complete
I am going to guess that the release of JJ Finley and Matt Clapp means that Tony Scheffler will be ready to play on Sunday.
