thelomasbrowns wrote: Regarding Ronnie Brown, might he just be released? I believe that as a veteran he wouldn't be subject to waivers, so he could sign with us immediately. After the trading deadline, even veterans are subject to waivers. If Brown is released the Lions can put in a claim for him and hope for the best.

Adam Schefter just tweeted that it is in fact a brain tumor via 97.1

Wow! It's amazing how things like this are sometimes found out... God bless him and his family. My son is a 14 year survivor. He will be in my prayers.

mlive comfirmed as well. That is too bad. Interesting and ironic quote by Schwartz according to that article: Brown arrived in Detroit on Wednesday, but Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was careful commenting on the acquisition before he could pass a physical. "I think if I talk too much somebody might found something wrong with an x-ray or something," Schwartz said.

damn. I'm so sorry for only thinking about the failed trade instead of the possibilty that something could be this bad. I hope he gets better.

Here's more: PFT wrote: Jerome Harrison has brain tumor Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 20, 2011, 1:03 PM EDT
The proposed trade of running back Jerome Harrison to Philadelphia was voided because Harrison was found to have a brain tumor.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter breaks the news and points out that the failed trade could be a blessing in disguise for Harrison. Without the trade, Harrison wouldn’t have taken a physical that revealed the tumor.
This helps explain how Harrison wasn’t on the injury report last week: The Lions had no idea.
Hopefully Harrison caught this early and can treat it aggressively now. Our thoughts are with Harrison and we wish him good health.
I'm disappointed that the trade fell through, but I'm glad it led to the discovery of the tumor when it did. As mentioned by Adam Schefter, it may have saved his life. Hopefully, Harrison can make a full recovery.

Re: Lions trade for Ronnie Brown
I was just thinking, this trade may have helped save Harrison's life given that he might not have known about his condition without the physical assuming he does have some sort of brain tumor.

Very good point. What would the procedure for him be now? I would think he'll probably go on IR for treatment, right?

I'm sure they'll want to run more tests to determine size, type, location, etc. Given all that, it's best he be put on IR and allowed to spend time with his doctors and family. Along with him, those poor folks must be devastated. Best wishes Jerome, to you and your loved ones..

His age at minimum would dictate that. They will need to determine the severity and whether it's operable or not.

Re: Lions trade for Ronnie Brown
It has to be fairly new also since he passed the physicals when he was signed as a FA in the preseason. Had he lasted here all season and not gotten a physical until next offseason, it could have been too late.
