Running back Jerome Harrison failed his physical in Philadelphia after being traded from the Lions to the Eagles because doctors discovered a brain tumor, according to a report.

Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the trade might have might have saved Harrison's life, due to the physical that was performed.

Schefter was told by sources that while Harrison is not expected to play for the Lions again this season, his long-term prognosis for a normal life — and possibly even a football career — appear to be good.

The Lions on Thursday would not discuss results of Harrison's physical.

Harrison gained 41 yards on 14 carries in four games for the Lions this season.

A brain tumor wouldn't kill you before the end of the season would it? Spielman would have just walked it off and dealt with it after the season was over!

I'm sad to hear this. He's way young to have to deal with a brain tumor. I hope everything works out!

That failed trade may have been the luckiest break he could have ever had.

Fisher or Joekel or Lane Johnson for #5 overall. I have settled on Johnson as my preference. The only thing Joekel and Fisher have over him is experience at LT. 2 years from now, Lane Johnson will be known as the best LT of this draft!
