Wishes do come true.
In a pre-game interview on the Ford Lions Report, Detroit defensive end Cliff Avril said that he was looking forward to playing against Denver quarterback Tim Tebow.
Tebow is the first left-handed quarterback the Lions have faced this season and with Avril rushing from the right side, he figured Tebow could be an easy target.
"He'll have his back to me," Avril said, smiling. "Maybe I'll get a sack-fumble, who knows?"
Avril got that -- and more.
Early in the second half, Avril, who had been beating rookie tackle Orlando Franklin all afternoon, flew past Franklin and stripped the ball out of Tebow's hand. Avril scooped up the loose ball and went 24 yards for the touchdown, which gave Detroit a 24-3 lead.
Avril, who had two sacks and two forced fumbles among his three tackles, was a big part of the defensive line that made the afternoon miserable for the second-year quarterback.
