Do the Lions have the best secondary they've had in years?
Speaking of Chris Houston, it occurs to me that the Lions probably have the best secondary they have had in years. When was the last time their secondary was better? That's not to say that they have a better than average secondary, but it looks better than it did during the Millen era.

I would say it is easily the best secondary we have had for a while. The runner up is the Dre' Bly, Fernando Bryant, Kenoy Kennedy, Terrence Holt combo...which is kind of sad.

Are you serious? How could this current collection of bums possibly compete with the likes of Travis Fisher, Otis Smith, Stanley Wilson, Terry Fair, Bracy Walker, Dwight Smith, Eric King, Will James, Anthony Henry, Kevin Abrams, or Brian Kelly?

Re: Do the Lions have the best secondary they've had in year
definitely the best collection in over 10 years. Houston and Wright are above avg starters, Berry is a very good if unknown and underrated nickle back, Alphonso Smith could start for some teams and Brandon McDonald is a solid player. Delmas is very strong at safety but Spievey has been exposed, not sure how good Harris can still be but Wendling was decent as a sub.

We should sign Travis Fisher then cut him less than a minute later. Bring back Cason too for the lulz. Nah for real tho, Cason is a cool dude on twitter. Actually a lot of former Lions are happy to see us doing good.

That's funny Sly!! Just when I though I'd never hear the name Travis Swisher ...er, Fisher again.

probably the best since ive been watching. about 20 years. its crazy to think how horrible EVERYBODY thought our secondary would be after we passed on CBs and Ss in the draft. Our LBs too
ill say best in atleast 20 years

Re: Do the Lions have the best secondary they've had in year
Definitely the best DB's since William White, Ray Crockett, and Bennie Blades.
In William White's last year with the Lions, I went to one of the games in the Silverdome. At the end of the 1st quarter, I seen a bunch of empty seats on the 45 yard line about 15 rows back. So, I snuck down there from my second level end zone seat. I ended up sitting next to William Whites dad for the rest of the game. It was the closest I have ever come to actually meeting anyone famous.

Didn't Brian Westbrook have a Pro Bowl year during the Bobby Ross era? What did our secondary look like back then?

I don't think Westbrook made the Pro Bowl, but I know he was getting recognition for his play until he blew out his Achille's. He was never the same after that, and got a reputation for illegal downfield contact after that. He was getting flagged constantly, and some of them were BS calls....but the reputation was there. The rest of the secondary during that time was pretty average or below. We may had a decent safety, but I don't recall exactly who played at that time with Westbrook.

Kurt Schultz was our saftey in 2000. He had 7 INTs that year. The Lions had a very opportunistic defense. That's what I think about this years. I'm not sure how solid it is, but it's definaltly opportunistic.
