Post DL situation
What do you guys think our DL depth chart would look like??

I would say this:

DE: Cory Redding, Jared DeVries, Bill Swancutt
DT: Shaun Rogers, Dan Wilkinson
DT: Marcus Bell, Shaun Cody
DE: James Hall, Kalimba Edwards, Bill Swancutt

Side notes:

: Look for a frequent rotation between Marcus, Dan, and Cody. (Cody as our 3rd down DT)

: Look for Redding to play in the middle for Rogers a little, to get Swancutt some playing time. (If Swancutt produces in training camp)

If Kalimba doesn't produce in training camp, its time to show him the door. All the hype that he brought with his good rookie year is gone. Time for him to shape up or ship out.

I agree that Redding and Cody may be used in certain 3rd down situations inside. It will be interesting to see if the Lions choose to keep 8 or 9 defensive linemen. They have kept 9 on the roster in the past, but that would pressure them to make cuts in other areas they may not want to. If they must cut one lineman, it will most likely be Devries. I know Edwards is not producing, but they may give him one more year to show some stuff. Redding, Cody and Swancutt are will be more run stoppers on the outside than pass rushers. If there is a chance Edwards can produce some pressure, they'll keep him.

Training Camp will be interesting.......

I'd rather have DeVries.

Kalimba who?

I agree that DeVries is the more productive of the two, but is a run stuffer and not a rusher. The Lions have enough run stoppers and need some pass rush help. If Edwards has a chance of returning to rookie form, the Lions need to keep him. As I said, it's all about what happens in training camp.
