Lions apparently worked him out at their local pro day a few weeks ago, so they've seen him up close.

Quote:
Biography: Awarded all-conference honors since his sophomore season and named to several All-American teams in 2011. Senior totals included 26 tackles/2 interceptions/4 pass breakups, after 27/4/3 the prior year.

Positives: Nice sized defensive back with outstanding measurables. Effectively reads and diagnoses the action, works well with teammates and fights hard to make positive plays. Battles throughout the action, relatively instinctive and easily runs with opponents in every area of the field. Displays a good degree of explosion in his game, has a burst to the ball and effectively times or anticipates pass defenses. Fluid changing direction, plays with a large degree of quickness and aggressive. Reads receivers eyes and gets his head back around to make plays on the ball.

Negatives: Must improve the consistency of his backpedal as he prefers to side shuffle down field. Not smooth or fluid turning his hips.

Analysis: Greenwood is a talented small school prospect with nice size as well as upside potential. He would be best in a zone system and could eventually grow into a safety.

Yes, swapped picks with the Raiders and gave up one of their 7th round picks this year.

I believe he also worked out at Michigan's pro day. His athleticism is intriguing and he has the size to compete at CB and S.

no idea but i would imagine they bring him in to camp at corner and if it doesnt work than they can take a look at safety

Either way , I really like this pick .. This draft , the Lions went out and got quality guys , not just depth , but quality early contributors , in some way .. Be it special teams or solid back ups .. I wouldve maybe taken Randle over Broyles , but hey thats me ,and I dont get paid the big bucks .

From Don Banks' "Wes Welker Watch List" article on SI.com, regarding late-round sleepers. 6th round pick Jonte Green is also mentioned in the article.

Quote:
• Chris Greenwood, CB, Albion College -- Players from a Division III program like obscure Albion College in Albion, Mich., have to be special to get noticed by NFL scouts, but prospects who can run and jump like Greenwood almost always get discovered at some point. Taking part in a pro day workout at the University of Michigan in March, Greenwood ripped off a 4.34 in his 40, then posted a vertical of 43 inches and a broad jump of 11'2''. At 6-1, 193, Greenwood also has NFL size for a cornerback, with long arms, well-honed press-coverage skills, and strong change of direction ability.

All he really lacks is pedigree, having attended three colleges, jumping from Northwood University in Michigan, to Eastern Michigan, to Albion in a relatively short span of time. Look for Greenwood's name to be called in the earlier rounds on Saturday, with some scouts likening his frame and game to Antonio Cromartie.
