Vernon Fox has signed with the Detroit Lions, filling the roster spot of injured running back Paul Smith, who is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery and miss the rest of the season. Fox, a defensive back, appeared in 28 games with the San Diego Chargers over the past two seasons, including five starts, recording 45 tackles and one interception.
