I hope they are. I'd prefer to see the team sign someone like OJ Atogwe than keep Spievey. There's a number of good vet safeties available, and some other developmental safeties who could be signed.
In truth, I would have rather seen Spievey get the axe than Justin Miller or Alfonso Smith.

last part is nonsense...smith is a huge liability compared to spievey and miller is a 2nd string KR

I just really hope we can get him up to speed with our scheme quickly. We need all the help we can get.

Reports are saying he is already taking first team reps.

Worth signing him for this alone (starts at around 0:35) :

I wanted him a few years ago when he left SD. He was never much better than average starting corner level, now he's old. Don't expect much.

Smith was a liability as a corner, but didn't do too badly as a safety against the Bills. And Miller at least has the versatility to play corner if pressed into duty. He was our best kick returner this off-season....better than Logan, whom I don't understand why we are keeping him.
Spievey is flat out terrible in coverage, and when he does get into position he can't catch the ball. At least Smith can pick off the pass and hold onto it. Spievey is terrible in all aspects of the game.

This just in: Florence might have suffered a season-ending injury.

Do it have anything to do with being burned, repeatedly?

Re: Welcome Drayton Florence
Its at least a multi-week injury, possibly the entire season. Broken forearm is the rumor. It's possible he comes back after about 8 weeks. Not worth it.
