Post Well, that must be awkward. Welcome Mr. Mosley.
Quote:
The Detroit Lions have a new defensive tackle in C.J. Mosley, who signed a two-year deal with the team Wednesday after a free agent visit to the Allen Park headquarters.

Lions fans might remember Mosley from the hit he laid on quarterback Matthew Stafford in 2009 at the end of a memorable last-second win vs. Cleveland.

In a desperation attempt to tie the game trailing by six points, Stafford - then a rookie - scrambled around with no time left on the clock before heaving a pass into the end zone. Right as Stafford let go of the ball, Mosley came in with a textbook hit that separated Stafford's left shoulder.

The Browns secondary was called for interference and the Lions got a untimed down at the 1-yard line.

Would love to see THAT first meeting.

Is this the end of C Williams then, even though hed play for a near min contract. Im curious what we paid for Mosley. Dont hate the signing, but really, we have No 2nd WR and were bringing in 3rd/4th DTs with our tiny cap space. Theres going to be tons of potential late round DTs this year and they will be cheap as dirt.

I can't find the link but Mosley came really cheap (something like 2.5 mil for two years). I think with C Williams they were probably concerned about his knee.

well if thats true I do like the #s,and am interested to see what he can produce as a rotational guy spelling 2 good DTs. Then weve got JJ who will go DT on Obv passing downs. Maybe they will pick Corey back up after the draft IF we dontpick up a 4th DT in the later rounds. that would make sense as hed be vet min by hen prob.

If they are worried about Williams knee or his ability to make it through a full season they wont resign him until after the season starts. If they resign him before and he's on the opening roster his contract will be guaranteed.

Good point. Which means they likesly will still draft a late round DT 4th (35th pick) - 7th which it seems the draft is well stocked for, and then like you say they could bring him back after the start of the season if in the preseason that DT seems to be more practice squad material than rotational backup for this season.
