Lions will work out Richmond QB John Laub, Matt Millen's cousin

Another Millen Era in Detroit? Maybe.
Undrafted Richmond quarterback John Laub will attend Detroit Lions rookie minicamp next week, on a tryout basis. Earlier, Richmond’s athletic website had reported that Laub had signed with the Lions.
Laub threw for 1,722 yards in seven games last year, before breaking his ankle. According to his bio on the Richmond website, he’s also the cousin of former Lions general manager Matt Millen.
Millen, of course, ran the Lions in 2001-08, went they endured one of the worst stretches in NFL history. The Lions went 31-84 under Millen and lost all 16 games in 2008, when he was fired as general manager three games into the season.
Laub is a longshot to make the roster. The Lions return all three quarterbacks from last year — Matthew Stafford, Shaun Hill and Kellen Moore — and also are expected to have Western Michigan quarterback Alex Carder in rookie camp.
Carder agreed to terms on a rookie free agent deal with the Lions late Saturday, after the NFL draft.
A part-time starter in 2010 who served as USC transfer Aaron Corp’s backup in 2011, Laub threw for nine touchdowns and two interceptions as a senior and impressed scouts at the NFL’s Super Regional Combine last month.
In 2011, the Lions worked out fullback Collin Mooney, Millen’s son-in-law. Mooney is currently with the Tennessee Titans
